ADO bus station - 77500 Cancún

I liked this bus station. If you are waiting for the bus to the airport, go all the way in to the end. There is a separate airconditioned waiting room for airport travellers. If you are arriving from the airport, one block away you can ride the R1 line bus to the hotel zone accommodations!

If I could give them a zero star rating I would. Terrible service at Cancun Centro Terminal. We were booked a 12pm bus to Playa De Carmen which was due to arrive at 1:30pm. Booked tickets online a few days ago and selected the front seat of the bus because I get severely car sick on busses. As we go to get on the bus we get told that we can sit wherever we want. I politely mentioned that I booked the front seat online especially because I get car sick. The staff didn’t listen or consider my request even though I booked the seats, and told me to sit at the back of the bus. Communicating with them became to difficult due to the language barrier so we decided to just get on the bus and sit anywhere we could. We then realised the bus was full and overbooked. We were then ordered very rudely to remove our luggage from under the bus and get off. Mind you we had a tour at playa de Carmen scheduled at 2pm. The bus leaves without us, us who have paid for a ticket for the 12pm bus. We tried to speak to management but they deflected our concerns and kept saying the didn’t speak English. We finally spoke to someone who spoke English and he said we could get on the next bus. So we lined up for the next bus and where refused entry by the driver even though the manager said we could get on the bus. We argued back and forth between the driver who wouldn’t let us on and the manager. The drive of this bus was a very stuck up rude man who wouldn’t even look at me whilst I tried to talk to him he just ushered on passengers pretending I wasn’t there. Throwing his hands in my face every time I tried to speak to him. That bus then left. We finally got put on the 12:45 bus. Which got us to puerto at 2:15. We missed our tour which cost us $100 USD each. And we did not get any type of compensation from ADO, nor did we get our money back from the tour we missed. All over it was a terrible experience, the staff most of all where very unprofessional and did not make traveling with ADO a pleasant experience. For any future travelers I recommend you arrive very early for your allocated bus. Because they over book their services and there is a good chance you won’t be let on.

Even if the buses are nice there is thefts happening. Keep your bags with you especially if you sleep. I kept our bags on top of us and got wallet and camera stolen. ADO should take care of this problem since I read lot of similar experiences on internet.

Worst bus service one could find. Had to travel from belize city to Mexico City. The office in belize city said there is no direct bus so I have to take a bus from belize to cancun and then cancun to mexico. Well for first trip it was smooth and easy but the staff at cancun bus terminal was so rude and asked for cash every now and then and refused to help when I didn’t give tips. I had to travel with my dog and had a lot of luggage even after getting into the bus after confirming at the belize bus terminal they denied taking my pet at cancun. Was extremely arrogant about it when asked for help. The manager there refused to talk to the belize terminal manager and said,” Why should I talk to him ? Who is he ?” Simply said not possible and left me with my pet and all the luggage alone. I will never recommend ado to anyone. The manager should be ashamed of himself and a strict action should be taken against him.

ADO Buses are clean, have AC and some have bathrooms. Recommend. I’ve taking it many times to go to Playa del Carmen, Merida, Cancun airport. ADO station might not be as clean but what counts is the ride you’re hopping onto.

The customer service was terrible. This was genuinely the worst experience about my trip to Cancun. I was treated with such an attitude as if I were a nuance for being an American tourist. The staff was not useful as they literally said they didn't want to accept my debit card because they had closed the machine down. There wasn't a sign posted anywhere that stated that after a certain time, the card machines will not be used. I even stated I had just had my wallet stolen and still no concern. The manager was just as useless. If I could have avoided this station, I would have gone to the airport instead. The ride itself was fine, and so were the buses.

What a miserable experience this was. It took us well over an hour to get on a 30 minute ride to the airport. It started with us having to wait 40 minutes in slowest moving line just so we could buy a ticket for a 17 kilometre trip back to the airport. Once out turn they would not sell a ticket to the next available bus because it’s leaving too soon. Once we had our tickets and went over to board the bus won’t let us board because… you guessed it, this is the bus we were not allowed to buy a ticket for and we need to wait another 20 minutes for the next one since the ticket can only be used for the time it was sold and we were standing there waiting for an almost empty bus to leave us watching just so we could enjoy waiting another 20 minutes for the next one after spending 40 minutes waiting in line already. I get that sometimes things go wrong and delays happen but here everything was by design and I could not think of a way to make this any worse than it currently is. Bravo for that, I guess…

Pretty nice station. ADO is really easy to get around Mexico with. Went to three station and they were all nice. They have a wax terminator.
