Don't buy your tours or anything here. They are crooks and will misinform you.

Worst tour operator ever! The staff lied to us about the tours, about lots of things.

I booked a taxi with u last night for pick up at 530am. The taxi driver said he will be late for 10 mins and then said he’s stopped by police and never showed up! And they took my deposit!

We were called in by Fernando to the shop and while chatting, the topic of excursions was brought up. We said we were interested in Xichen Itza and Fernando showed literature and details for the xcaret classic tour (large charter with a/c, on board restroom, lunch at Vallodolid, and the ancient city itself). We decided to purchase through him and were told to expect a shuttle at our resort in the morning to take us to our trip. When the day came, a small minibus with 2 people in it(seat ~10) came to pick us up and then stopped at a few more resorts. After all were in, the one of the 2 original people did not have a seat and was on a cooler by the door with no seat or restraints. He then told us he was the tour guide and the minibus would take us on the excursion instead. No leg room, faltering a/c, no restroom, not enough seats. We were then given an itinerary that did not match what we were sold on by Fernando. It felt unsafe and that we no longer knew what our payment covered as we were deceived from the start. We do not recommend using Atempa's Tour Operator in Plaza Caracol. Do not trust their packages or sales pitches.

Buyer beware! Do not purchase excursions through Atempa Tours! On our second day in Cancun, my husband and I walked down from our resort to another Riu resort for lunch. Across from the Riu Cancun, a man flagged us down outside the shopping center, inviting us to peruse his store. Since we were in the market for a cheap beach bag anyway, we went with it. Once inside, the man, Fernando, asked if we were looking to do any excursions while in Cancun. We were. We had heard that there were many vendors in Cancun that are resellers of the same excursion packages, so we decided to hear him out. He claimed to be selling Xcaret Chichen Itza tours. He showed us Xcaret brochures, and a photo of the Xcaret bus (black with large jaguar logo) and told us that was the bus we would be on. The tour was to include a large bus with AC and a bathroom, a buffet lunch, and stops at Valledolid, a cenote, and Chichen itself. He said that their small shuttle would pick us up from our hotel and take us to the rendezvous parking lot where we would transfer to an Xcaret bus and be on our way. The pricing was a deal but not on so cheap as to let on that it was too good to be true. Not our finest moment - we believed him and bought the package (and a beach bag). On the morning of the tour, we waited outside our hotel lobby as large Xcaret buses pulled up, calling passengers by name to board the bus, and left. Several minutes later our shuttle pulled up - a run down Toyota passenger van. They called our name and we hopped in. The shuttle went around to a couple other hotels, picking up other passengers. At the last pickup, the employee in the passenger seat gave up his seat for two more passengers, resituating himself on a cooler in the back seat. At this point he announced to the shuttle that we should make ourselves comfortable and buckle up because we were on our way to Chichen Itza, bathroom stop would be in an hour and then we would go visit a Mayan shaman before continuing on to the main stops of the trip. Clearly not the Xcaret excursion we thought we paid for, and clearly there was no imminent transfer to a larger bus. Obviously no bathroom on board, and it was questionable whether we would be getting a buffet lunch or merely eating ham sandwiches out of the igloo cooler that the guide had perched himself on. There was also the concern of getting shaken down by the "Mayan shaman", or getting to the gates of Chichen and realizing that our site admission was not included in the "tour" we had booked. Basically - with such a big part of the tour being misrepresented from the start - how could we trust that any of it was going to follow the expected itinerary? As tourists with limited resources in a foreign country, the further we got from the Hotel Zone, the less able we would be to extract ourselves from a bad situation. We told them to stop the van, and that this was not the tour we signed up for. They let us off on the side of the road, a little ways past Ventura Park and about 7km from the nearest R1 bus route stop. Fortunately my husband and I are able bodied and young, and we had plenty of sunscreen, bug spray, and water for our long walk back. Still, we received several concerned offers of rides from passing drivers, probably wondering why there were two crazy gringos trudging along the road outside the Hotel Zone where there was no sidewalk. We made it back to our hotel in one piece though, albeit tired and sweaty and frustrated, and we hope that no one else makes the same mistake we did!

Tour guide was 30 minutes late and then we made a stop at a souvenir shop for a check in. Do not buy from this agency if you value your time.

I booked a ATV Tour to some cenotes and a tour to chichen itza with atempas. As allways in mexico you have to negotiate a bit but in the end the prices were fair and the quality of the service was good. Regarding the chitchen itza tour I recommend to buy the standard package and get a upgrade ( if wanted) directly on the bus. My guides there were really great though and offered some interesting insights into the reasons for the mayas downfall.
