El Agave Restaurante - 40880 Zihuatanejo

I was eavesdropping on two scuba instructors who were talking about Agave, and we decided to check it out...and it was the best meal we ate in Zihua! We ate perfectly cooked lobster and octopus, and the mango cream dessert is to die for! All for a very reasonable price. The balcony ambiance is wonderful, definitely come here early in your trip so you can come back before you leave!

El Agave is a delightful quiet romantic second floor restaurant above the street in the shopping district of Zihuatanejo. The proprietor Leo welcomed us like old friends. The tortilla soup was delicious. The poblano pepper chicken pasta was our favorite of the night. We will definitely come back again.

Delicioso comida y muy amable. After the complimentary, warm bread and yummy butter, I had the guacamole with chips that were fresh and warm, spinach salad with apples, tomatoes, nuts and cheese and a yummy dressing and the brownie with ice cream for dessert (unfortunately I left my phone charging on our nightstand so no pictures). Everything was fresh and simply wonderful. In addition, I asked for chicken soup to go for my friend because she was sick and they gave me one of their bowls with the promise to return it. My friend was so very thankful! Highly recommend.

We were recommended El Agave restaurant by our hotel and couldn't have been happier with the quality of food and level of service. Owner Leon, gave us his recommendations on dinner options. My husband had the Trio Salad with Pollo Al Pastor, I had the Casa salad with spinach, goat cheese and basalmic dressing along with Shrimp in Ajillo sauce. Everything was so fresh and rich in flavor. The ice cold Chilean Sauvignon Blanc was perfect with our meal. Food and drinks were well piced. We plan to return for another wonderful dinner this trip.

Our first visit to Agave did not disappoint. We got there at opening- it was clean and we were welcomed so hospitably. We had a margarita on the rocks and a Vicki. The margarita was excellent, not too sweet and plenty of tequila. For starter we had the octopus carpaccio. It was delicious. Perfectly balanced flavors and beautifully minced up herbs...we also had some delightful warm bread with a compound vegetable herb butter. I wanted to take it home with me so I could eat it on more things! For dinner, we had the Mahi fillet and the Shrimp Scampi. I was too excited to wait for a good picture and tore into my food before the pictures. It was really savory and flavorful. The scampi was excellent. He literally had to take my bowl so I couldn’t lick it. Haha. It was divine. Perfectly seasoned, al dente spaghetti and plump fresh shrimp. For dessert, we shared a piece of flan. It had beautiful strawberries and fresh mint and was fabulous. We could barely finish it! But you know we don’t waste food. We managed to get that last bite. For the quality of the food and service, this is an exceptional restaurant in downtown Zihua. The prices are incredibly reasonable. You can tell they love what they do and take pride in the quality and content of their craft. Take your time, enjoy your meal and see a totally different view.

Very impressed with the Agave restaurant. We will be visiting here often. We suggest the coconut shrimp, steak fajitas and an amazing cappuccino for desert.
