La hacienda de El Soyatal tuvo su época de esplendor durante el siglo XIX y principios del presente, siendo la producción de granos básicos su principal actividad económica, y en menor medida la ganadería. Se componía de casi 7 mil hectáreas, en donde vivían cerca de 600 habitantes hacia finales del siglo pasado. Lo más atractivo del lugar es el templo y la casa grande, ambos obra del arquitecto práctico Refugio Reyes. El caso fue, en los albores del siglo XX, uno de los más hermosos del estado, belleza que podemos atestiguar a pesar del avanzado estado de deterioro en que actualmente se encuentra. La casa grande de esta hacienda porfiriana luce una fachada sobria y contrasta con el buen gusto en los decorados y en los detalles arquitectónicos de los interiores, supervivencias de su pasado esplendor. El último dueño que residió por lo menos temporalmente en la hacienda fue don Carlos Arellano Valle, quien a causa de desavenencias con los habitantes del lugar, y a raíz de la afectación agraria, dejó prácticamente abandonado el lugar hacia 1939, y desde entonces a la fecha la finca se ha ido deteriorando inexorablemente. Hace no muchos años sus instalaciones fueron aprovechadas como escuela rural elemental para los jóvenes del ejido y lugares cercanos, lo que aceleró su destrucción. El templo de la Santa Cruz del Soyatal fue construido por orden del hacendado Luis Valadez, a finales del siglo pasado (1897) cuyos restos descansan desde 1909 en una parte del recinto sagrado. En el altar principal se encuentra una hermosa imagen del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, motivo por el cual las fiestas del lugar se celebraban en el mes de junio.

The El Soyatal hacienda had its period of splendor during the 19th century and the beginning of the present, with the production of basic grains being its main economic activity, and to a lesser extent livestock. It consisted of almost 7 thousand hectares, where about 600 inhabitants lived towards the end of the last century. The most attractive of the place is the temple and the big house, both by the practical architect Refugio Reyes. The case was, at the dawn of the 20th century, one of the most beautiful in the state, a beauty that we can attest despite the advanced state of deterioration that it is currently in. The large house of this Porfirian hacienda shows a sober façade and contrasts with the good taste in the decorations and in the architectural details of the interiors, survivals of its past splendor. The last owner who resided at least temporarily in the hacienda was Don Carlos Arellano Valle, who, due to disagreements with the inhabitants of the place, and as a result of the agrarian affectation, left the place practically abandoned around 1939, and since then to date the farm has been deteriorating inexorably. Not many years ago, its facilities were used as a rural elementary school for the youth of the ejido and nearby places, which accelerated its destruction. The temple of Santa Cruz del Soyatal was built by order of the landowner Luis Valadez, at the end of the last century (1897), the remains of which rest since 1909 in a part of the sacred precinct. On the main altar is a beautiful image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is why the local festivals were held in June.
