A very nice place?

Museum full of history and culture with fascinating stone carvings.

Previously I had two explosion rooms, at the top with maps and drawings, that the last time I went they were closed, most of the important pieces are still on the ground floor.

Very good Museum, the only detail is that the municipal and state government have neglected it, they do not take the necessary steps to modernize the Museum despite the fact that it exhibits pieces of historical and cultural importance

Conserve the archaeological heritage of the Mayan culture, as well as promote and encourage the dissemination of the pieces to strengthen the cultural identity of the municipality. The house where the Dr. José Gómez Panaco Museum is located today, it appears, was built between the end of the 19th century; It belonged to the Ocampo family and for being this, the only two-storey house in its time and for its age, the state government in 1975 rescued it and adapted it to install a library museum, inaugurated on August 17, 1979 and which ran until 1985. In this same year 1985, it was renovated by the Government of Lic. Enrique González Pedrero to house the Archaeological Museum that bears the name of Dr. José Gómez Panaco (of Cuban nationality) as a recognition of his work and dedication to the rescue of the archaeological heritage from Tabasco. Monumental and small pieces of the Mayan culture are exhibited, with a total of 1,112 objects, which due to their importance have given them international status, because some of their pieces have been part of exhibitions mounted in countries of Europe. Local Museum of Balancán, a place where there are archaeological pieces found in the surroundings of the municipality, since Balancán has many undiscovered archaeological sites.

I really liked the museum, because you can directly appreciate some stelae that were found in those places and a special one from the ruins that are half an hour from the city. It undoubtedly frames the legacy that the Mayans also left in Tabasco and their purposes for the civilization of those times. I highly recommend visiting this museum.
