★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Chiapas trip to visit weavers and other artists in their villages and collectives was a trip of a lifetime - truly outstanding! I learned a ton not only about how backstrap looms work, but also about how modern Mayan people weave ancient motifs and traditions into their daily lives, and incorporate what’s useful and appealing to them about Western society. Think cell phones and 18th century French army uniforms! Thank you, Norma and Gabriela!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I took the one day conchineal dye workshop with Elsa and my only regret is that I didn't have time to do the full 3 day dye workshop. Elsa was fantastic.
We did the workshop on the terrace of her home. It was a very inviting space. Elsa was happy to answer any questions. She also was happy to share her personal projects and experiments too. My wool turned out beautiful.
After my workshop I also visited her families gallery- Galeria Fe Y Lola Rugs and Textiles which has a beautiful array of bags, masks, rugs, and chocolates.
Thank you so much for the incredible experience. I hope to return soon to complete the workshop!
Also, very covid safe. Open air space, masks, distance, hand washing and sanitizer.
