Restaurante Pueblo Viejo - 37700 San Miguel de Allende

We came here after another restaurant was rude to us. This was a great decision. Our family ordered the Molcajete de arrachera y camarones, 4 cheese pasta, pork leg, and grilled octopus. Everything was amazing. The steak from the Molcajete was the softest steak I have ever had in my life. The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing evening with friends and family. The drinks were reasonably priced and were crafted well. The prices are middle of the road. I would highly recommend this restaurant while in San Miguel.

It's the little things, or maybe the big things that count, many of which are separate from the food. It's difficult to find this restaurant's quality, authenticity, and reasonable prices near the center of town, or perhaps anywhere is SMdA. Beautiful ambience with subdued lighting, comfortable chairs, fresh flowers on each table, and quiet music that's perfect for conversation. And the food is equally good. Rolls and butter on the table in addition to chips, extra lime slices with the water, attentive but respectful servers, very clean surroundings, and great food. I had vegetable fajitas that were plated perfectly and creatively, and my wife's food was equally good. We don't usually go for dessert, but the impossible cake was worth it. I think this is the best place in town, regardless of cuisine or price. It's my #1 choice in SMdA.

This was our first time to San Miguel and we are very glad that we had our very first meal at Pueblo Viejo! The food was very delicious especially their specialty jicama tacos and the Molcajete’s were amazing as well. The service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this place!

It was a run of the mill restaurant, with nice atmosphere, good food, and attentive service, but nothing to write home about. I started with the Three Cheese Fundita, and to be gimmicky, they torched it at the table, and unnecessarily set tequila on fire and poured it over the cheese. Don't get me wrong, it was excellent, but I'd much rather had them properly make it in the kitchen and bring it out, so I could eat! I followed with the Molcajete, which was awesome! While the chicken itself lacked seasoning, there was plenty of items to offset it's blandness. The nopales, cheese, peppers, chorizo, onions and salsa were all flavorful and added to the dish. For dessert, I basically had a chocolate tamale, which was good, but the cajete ice cream that accompanied it was phenomenal. Cajete is a caramel like sauce that originated in the region, so it was fun to try that. My friend had a steak and enchilada dish. The enchiladas were also the highlight, as the steak was overcooked and lacked seasoning. His dessert was the crispy crepes and cajete ice cream, and he too thought the ice cream was amazing. The crepes were more like crispy, thin cookies cut into strips like a haystack, and were difficult to navigate. I'd go back to Pueblo Viejo, but I think there are other culinary delights to be found in SMA.
