Sunset Grill - 77400 Isla Mujeres

DINNER REVIEW 4 for the appetizers, 2 for the entrees, averages out to a 3 We came to Sunset grill for the night of Christmas as we wanted something more upscale. It’s a little bit of a hike from where we were staying but it’s on the water which is always nice. It’s clearly family-run as the husband and wife are there taking your order and asking if you need anything. The appetizers were delicious...I had the lobster quesadilla which came with a delicious chipotle sauce. I would definitely order that again. For our entree, my sister and I shared the grilled flank steak special and the seafood parade. Unfortunately, the steak was over cooked and dry, the beans that came with it were dry, and the guacamole was nothing special. They garnished the plate with paprika to try and make it look fancy but it really didn’t serve a purpose which I didn’t appreciate. The seafood parade was good but not great. Not the kind of seafood to write home about. For an upscale restaurant like this, I was hoping for more precision in how things were cooked. I don’t think I’ll be coming back but I wish them good luck!

What a hidden gem! We walked up to this place after finding most of North Beach closed, and we're so glad it was open! Cozy dining area with a beautiful view of the bay with fantastic and friendly service. We came in only wanting apps as we weren't too hungry, but after seeing their menu we knew we had to order something more. They were incredibly kind and said they could deliver lunch next door where we were staying the next day as we had to leave before they were opening. We loved what we ordered and certainly will go back when we visit Isla Mujeres again! Thank you for your kindness!

The best meal I have had on Isla Mujeres, by far. My recommendation is to skip the busy and popular areas that are busy with high pressure wait staff for okay food, go to Sunset Grill instead. The ceviche was the best, fish was perfect and owners/staff were top notch and very personable. Hidden gem for sure! Support the small businesses that are not in the business centers people!

I cannot recommend this place enough. We spent our last night on a sunset cruise with Capitán Felipe and we’re so glad we did. Initially, issues arose on the Captain’s end which caused need for cancellation. After the captain discovered our excitement for the cruise, and that it was our last night on the island, he found a way to make everything work. From start to finish, it was clear that Felipe was most interested in making sure we had a wonderful time above all else. He took excellent care of us from beginning to even after. His food was phenomenal and the service matched. I wish we would have discovered his place sooner as it was truly spectacular and it is clear he takes great pride in his craft. Thank you so much for the beautiful evening, Capitán! We hope to see you again soon!

My husband and I visited this wonderful restaurant tonight. The food and atmosphere was so wonderful, I had to leave a 5 star review immediately! We had the lobster Thermador with potato and vegetables and it was AMAZING! Ambiance is charming and the owners and staff are absolutely delightful! We will definitely be back next trip.

If you like incredible food and great atmosphere this is the place. There was a diverse menu with very good paella and popcorn shrimp. It is on the water and is quiet and nice to be away from the fast paced downtown. The owners were very attentive making a unique experience. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone, families & couples.

The best hidden gem! The owners are a couple that put their heart and soul into giving you an amazing dining experience! On the water with a nice patio, you won't go wrong coming here to indulge in incredible food! Our favorite dinner yet on the island. We were very satisfied and definitely full of great food.

Our absolute favorite place to eat on the island!! My wife and I eat here numerous times every time we visit the island! We've tried most of what is on their menu, and everything has been fabulous. Felipe and Margarita are 2 of our favorite people on the island. They always make us feel right at home. We always go sailing with Felipe as well, and it is very enjoyable. We 100% recommend the food, drinks, and the sunset cruise on the yacht. For a bit of a twist, try the Sunset Long Island Tea. It's delicious! It's not on the menu, so you'll have to ask for it ;)
