Corrupt. We were robbed by 2 police officers. One was female, they were in uniform in a marked vehicle. They stopped us with a road barricade. Beware of the police.

Was initially hesitant based on the other reviews, but we needed to go here to file a report when my friend lost her passport. It was a simple process, though a little expensive (~$40 USD). Totally fine experience.

TERRIBLE, CORRUPT people. These people are evil and manipulative. They will demand money and threaten you by taking you license away. We had no cash left and the police still wanted all the money we had left in my wallet. These people are crooks. I would give ZERO stars if I could.

The officers were arresting my friend (for no reason) and while she was handing me her purse the lady grabbed my wrist and handcuffed me as well. They took us back to the jail cell where there was several people in the cells. Made us each pay $300 USD (mind you I did absolutely nothing but grab my friends purse) they slapped my friend across the face and pulled her hair. After waiting several hours for the “judge” he made us walk to the ATM and take out $6000.00 MX pesos (equivalent to $300) they returned our belongings but kept my necklace. Terrible and traumatizing experience. Officer Mendez and the surrounding officers would not let us girls use the bathroom. Very inhumane and the officers were taunting us throughout the time we were there. Being Mexican and speaking the native language and being in this situation was still very scary I can’t imagine how an actual tourist would feel being in the same position I was. These officers are beyond corrupt.

Cancun police, shame on you!!! I have never experienced this much corruption in an organization in all my years of travel around the globe. Mexico, you need to stamp out this kind of greed and corruption. After two weeks in Mexico and spending thousands of dollars in your country, we were ROBBED by your Cancun police force for not wearing masks in our own private rental car. Really??!! This is how you lose tourist dollars in your country. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Absolutely disgraceful!!!
