Achara - 63734 Sayulita

4.7/5 based on 8 reviews

Growing up in New York City, Sam developed a passion for food at a young age. After working in the Manhattan and Brooklyn restaurant scenes for 10 years he left the city behind to pursue his dream of owning his own restaurant and living on the beach. The first step was making the move to Sayulita in the winter of 2017. After enjoying a couple months in the sun it became clear to him what was missing from Sayulita - an authentic Thai restaurant. With this revelation, the seedling for Achara was planted. He promptly traveled to Thailand to study different styles of Thai cooking and the history of Thai food. With this new knowledge he returned to Sayulita and enlisted the help of friends and partners to help bring Achara to life. A year quickly flew by and Achara opened its doors in the winter of 2018.

Since then the goal for Achara has been to provide Sayulita with authentic Thai food that never takes any short cuts. All of our curry pastes and sauces are made in house following traditional recipes and using only the freshest ingredients. The same care is shown behind the bar; all Achara cocktails are made with fresh squeezed juice, garden fresh herbs, and handcrafted syrups.

A Thai Restaurant right in the centre of Sayulita - what a special treat. Our server was great, made suggestions for us which we tried. I had spring rolls for an appetizer and they were so good. I had to try the pad Thai and I agree with all the rave reviews- it is delicious. AND for dessert they have Peanut Butter pie with a crust and filling that are to die for. I would eat there everyday!!

Limited dining, yet worth the wait! Beautiful set up, including an outdoor table that seats about 8(don't hold me to that number or them could be a 6 can't recall) I really liked getting to watch them prepare the meals right from the table. Tai Wings were exceptional! Friendly staff, great quality food, up beat atmosphere!

What a find. Absolutely the best food we’ve found in Mexico. Better than most Thai food in Thailand. Went three nights in a row. Pumpkin Fried Rice, Tofu Stir Fry, green Curry and drinks are 10/10 Service is very friendly and speak English and Spanish perfectly.

Love love love! We’re so glad we have a few extra days so we can have another meal before we leave Sayulita. Achara is a must while visiting and is a really nice way to break up the daily Mexican cuisine. Also the staff here bust their behinds with good service and great food and it shows. The Pad Thai was some of the best I’ve had and the Tom Yum soup was also wonderful! Thank you ??

Drinks were great. Food was amazing. We had the green papaya salad, pumpkin fried rice and Panama curry. My friend always gets Panama curry and said it was the best he has ever had. It’s also super cute - beautiful setting inside and friendly service. The hostess managed to squeeze us in and was so lovely. Highly recommend!

This is the best restaurant in all of Sayulita! The staff are incredibly nice and welcoming - Jose was our server and he made the experience what it was, absolutely amazing. He looked after us so attentively and was so personable it was like we were guests at his home. Beyond the amazing staff, the food and drinks are insanely delicious. We had such a great time we made sure to squeeze in one extra visit before leaving Sayulita. This is a must for anyone coming through Sayulita!

We arrived early in the eve on a Saturday, a bit before 6 and had our pick of tables. As picky foodies, we were delighted to find such umami rich flavors. The drinks were delicious, the Thai iced tea went down a little too fast :) They were out of Kao mong gai which is what we’d planned to order but got the panang curry instead and it ended up being our favorite! We will be back!

Super long - 1 hour wait without warning, and brining us overcooked pad Thai loathed in sugar… it was so sweet and so soft, it went back to the kitchen. This place is a total no no. Shock that it needs reservations and the wait list is the longest. And final drop - hair in the food… If you’ve ever tasted good Thai food, skip this one and save your appetite for good Mexican or Italian cuisine Sayu has to offer. P.S. cocktails are nice
