Be aware there was an ex-employee of this hotel who checked over a british tourist's belongings, he found this person's medication and used it. Things did not came as well as he ex-employee thought they would ? ========================== Un exempleado del hotel hurgó y usó el medicamento de turistas ingleses y se quedó "tieso" ?

Staff stole our stuff. My Apple Watch and all my jewelry was taken from our room while out during the day. Super cute spot and food was decent but can’t recommend this place. Someone else was complaining about their jewelry stolen also when we were checking out.

Hotel Employees are thieves. I understand Mexico is not a wealthy country, but perhaps pay your employees enough that they arent compelled to steal from the guests.

Please, please! Never book in this hotel!! The staff goes through your items while you are away and the managers don't do anything after you complain! They stole my watch and 200 us dollars, worst experience of my life, the authorities should close this place

I randomly ended up at Akkuun. I had ceviche and some drinks at the beach restaurant and everything was perfect. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Victor in particular! Would definitely recommend and would come back.

My gf & I had an amazing 5 night stay at Akkuun. We were a bit hesitant based on some of the negative reviews here but we couldn’t have had a better stay. The room is super cute & spacious and a few steps from the beach. The hotel itself is very clean & fits the Tulum jungle vibe. Our stay included the free breakfast which was beyond what we expected ~ coffee, fruit & yogurt platter, egg dish + a sweet dish and it was delicious! We looked forward to it each morning. Customer service was A+. The staff was so nice & helpful! Happy hour specials daily! The pool was perfect for a dip to cool off or just to grab some shade. The beach was perfect. Soft sand & clear waters. It’s located at the top of the hotel zone so a 15-20 minute walk into the ‘jungle’ for more of the bar/dinner scene. To get a cab into the town, it’s a $15 one way trip. Can’t wait to return here in the future! ?

We just finished a great stay at Akkuun. Our beach facing room had an amazing view. Toiletries including aloe vera gel and mosquito spray were provided. Areas of improvement would be to fix the loose sliding door handle and toilet seat. Also, anyone who tried hard enough could have watched us shower with the way it's designed. One other thing to keep in mind is that people can easily see into your room from the restaurant, bar, and beach club when you have a beachfront room on the second floor so a 3rd floor room would have been better if you want more privacy. Coco at reception was lovely as was the rest of the staff. The area around our hotel was quiet unlike other parts of Tulum so good sleep was had.

To begin with, we had $100 stolen from inside our bag on the first night and didn't get housekeeping the entire 2 night stay. Based on other reviews, the stealing is common and there's no point in trying to get stolen things back. When we mentioned it at check out, the person feigned surprise and went, "Oh...no! I'm so sorry" and didn't offer any compensation or action afterwards. The room we asked to upgrade to was the ocean view room on the first floor. Its floor to ceiling windows face the communal part of the hotel (beach, food area) and to get any light in the room, we had to leave all the curtains open where everybody in the hotel could see into our rooms. In the room you can hear people outside or next door talking, showering, etc. Room also nice bed side lighting but the main light was big and white. All the towels have some kind of sauce stain on them. Beach was covered with seaweed and smelled like it, not complaining about it but it's not the best beach to be on. Fish tacos were really good, breakfast was average (coffee, French toast, mushroom toast). Also, the incorrect Google address is incredibly annoying when we were arriving. Other than the specific issues above I can't say the staff overall were bad at all.
