This is hands down the nicest resort I have ever visited. The staff make the whole experience even better. They also have the best food in this industry. I've never looked forward to the food at an all inclusive resort before.

We took a private tour through their animal preserve and Cenote. It was an amazing experience, especially for the price (MX $900 / $50 USD). They take in abused and neglected animals from circuses and private owners and rehabilitate them. Additionally, a portion of the tour price goes towards supporting the local Akumal community. The company purchases and transports perscription medicine for the elderly from neighboring cities such as Playa del Carmen. Our tour guide, Alex, was incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly. The three of us explored their Cenote in private. It was a surreal experience to say the least. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Akumal!

We were hooked up with this place by our bnb host, Amaya. This was one of the most rewarding experiences of my three visits to the Riviera Maya. Gabriel (Gabo) was our guide, and he did an awesome job of explaining the animal rescue to us. He is also a fountain of knowledge when it comes to both the ecology of the area and the Maya culture's interaction with it. We got to feed seeds to the parrots, feed hibiscus flowers to the monkeys, and pet Porky the pig who is basically the resident dog. The cenote was a beautiful and magical experience enhanced by the quiet--it was not overrun with people and it literally felt like a sacred place. We saw at least a dozen mot-mots at one end of the cave, which for my husband and I who are bird lovers was one of the highlights of our trip. The price here was about 35 or $40 a person I believe. I was happy to pay that much when I saw all of the work that everyone is doing their to preserve the jungle, rehabilitate and care for the animals, and for Gabo sharing his incredible knowledge of the jungle. I can't recommend this experience enough for nature lovers and those interested in learning and preserving Mayan culture.
