Nice view, cabins with very good design and many details. Good ubication. But they still have many flaws in service and equipment. There were not enough pots and plates in the kitchenette. We constantly had pbs of water and a smell of sewage, there was no soap in the bathroom. There was no welcome cocktail, usual in this category, nor an informative talk about the region and things to do. There were long waits in the restaurant, and the food is barely average. There is a long way to go before they can aspire to the category they want. The price is too high for what they offer as a whole.

They don't take cards, come with pesos. The room was lovely and so were the staff :)

Unfortunately not the experience we hoped for! Ignorant owners and dirty, loud room! When you advertise a hotel at the highest price in such a rural location, you cannot afford to commit mistakes. Our visit was far from pleasant and it was mainly due to the owners of the hotel, who clearly have a business first vs. hospitality mentality and who manage to make you feel out of place as a tourist in a super touristic place. We made a booking for a cabaña straight with them (cabaña, 2700 MXN - all in writing) because they don't have a website or an online booking system. It was confirmed but to our surprise, when we arrived they neglected the agreement and gave us a room, which on top of things wasn't ready for guests. The bathroom was still dirty... We asked various times, to hold up the agreement - even more as there was availability, but the owner made up weird stories - super irrelevant to our situation. They refused to give us what we booked for (offered us to pay the difference) which was unbelievable. Instead of making it up and acknowledge the mistake, even having a cabaña available (which any host with a hospitality mindset of running a hotel would have done), they managed to make us feel uncomfortable... "we've been super busy.. you booked last minute..." She was showing us the cabaña, which clearly is much nicer (much better view and away from the noise of the hotel) and while doing so, she was bossing around her staff for various instructions of how to put a table and a rug in the room.. completely out of place in front of guests and very rude how she talked to her team as well... The cherry on the cake was when she "congratulated" my husband for speaking such great Spanish, him being from a native Spanish speaking country (which he told her the name of the country.)... I mean.. the level of ignorance of this person running a tourist place is beyond understanding.. Ignoring all of the above, the hotel is in a nice setting but be aware that most of the rooms don't have the views they advertise online and be ready to bring earplugs because you're able to listen to everything that's happening in the hotel. Having said that, the bed is super comfortable, if you manage to fall asleep besides the noise. The bathroom ameneties such as shampoo and conditioner are also great! Would we stay here again? Definitely not because as a matter of principle when you run a 'top notch' accomodation, you should deliver on your promise. What a shame...

Brand new, clean, comfortable cabins with million dollar view. *Most comfortable bed in state of Oaxaca - luxe mattress, foam pillows, and plush blankets - the best I’ve slept in months.* Worth it to get a cabin instead of regular room so you can wake up to an unadulterated view of the sunrise above the cloud line. Electric heat, hot water, restaurant with talented chef - if you want to treat yourself, STAY HERE, it is the nicest accommodation in town. I slept 10 hours a night and never wanted to leave. Can’t wait to return! Thank you, Gregorio for the recommendation!

We travelled to the beach from Oaxaca city and stopped in San Jose del Pacifico for a night. We stayed in Alto de la Sierra and we had a fantastic experience. It was a very good decision, to stay here the night after a 3 hour drive in a winding road. There was enough to see and the hotel was a great base. The service was OK, the rooms had great views, they give you recommendations of what to bring (its pretty cold!) and the restaurant was lovely. The waiter in the restaurant and the argentinian/oaxacan fussion food was delicious. They are a relatively new hotel so there are still areas of improvement and therefore they should take these reviews as an important way of improving customer satisfaction.

Wow - this place was one of the best we've stayed in Mexico! It's location is stunning - the views are amazing. It's a little walk out of town which we preferred and has some beautiful walking routes in the other direction! The staff were very friendly and helpful! The room had brilliant facilities, it was so cosy and the bed and pillows were amazing!! I would definitely recommend!! Good value for money!

We had an excellent stay here. Very warm and welcoming individuals. Heaters in each room that worked very well. Bed was very comfortable and clean. The rooftop deck was great for yoga. The place is a bit expensive, but great if you’re looking for comfort in the mountains. Food was delicious too! Fire-roasted cauliflower is highly suggested.
