As the saying goes... “you can’t judge a book by it’s cover” and that goes for the Anai Suites in Guayabitos. On the outside, it looks like a beautiful place to stay. On the inside it is another story! If anyone is considering staying at the Anai Suites, we don’t recommend it!! We stayed there for just over 2 weeks starting late January and it was an absolute disaster. If this would have been our first time to the Guayabitos area we would have never returned. Luckily we have been here several years now and know there are many fabulous places to stay with great staff. The Anai Suites is not one of them! We had so many issues, but I’ll only mention the worse ones. We had strong sewer fumes in our room which caused headaches. Sometimes it was so bad we’d wake up in the middle of the night and have to sit on the deck for a while to get some fresh air. The owner would not do anything about it. Our brother and sister-in-law paid for 9 nights and ended up having to leave after only staying one night because unfortunately our sister-in-laws father passed away unexpectedly. When they asked for a refund, Irina refused to give them any money back. She said it wasn’t the hotel’s fault and would not be able to rent the room out again. The room was rented the next day for the entire time One evening the shower head fell and hit my husband on the top of his head, cutting him in two places. He went to the staff to show them and they took pictures of his head. We ended moving to another room the next day. Finally! We had to pay extra for as it was a better room but we felt it was worth it. We paid the extra and thankfully got a receipt. On Feb 8th they told us we had to leave or pay more money. We showed our receipt which said we were paid in full until Feb 9th and were staying until then. Later in the afternoon we were hand delivered a letter from the Mexican Tourism. The Anai Suites had filed a complaint against us with the Mexican Tourism. It basically said “if we didn’t leave peacefully the next morning the authorities would be involved”. They wanted us to sign the letter but we disagreed since there were a lot of false accusations against us in the letter. Jorge, from the Mexican Tourism was there to witness how we dealt with the letter. In the letter it stated we had stolen money from them, we had treated the staff with disrespect and said we refused to leave when asked to. We went through the accusations one by one with the staff (Irina was not there) and they admitted none of it was true. We then showed Jorge our receipt saying we were paid in full until the 9th. Jorge asked the staff about the receipt and they said they had made a mistake and had double booked the room and therefore had wanted us to leave. Jorge then told us to try to enjoy the rest of our stay and he gave us his cell phone number in case we had any more issues. I apologize for this lengthy post, but so much had happened that it still has us shaking our heads. We stayed our last three weeks at the MarYSol where we finally had the stress free holiday we came for. And we are booked at the MarYSol again for next year! Once again, if any of you or your family is looking for accommodations stay clear of the Anai Suites!

Second time there. Location is excellent. Come Comfortable and wonderful staff. A perfectly wonderful time.
