Don’t know where to start in reviewing this peaceful and quaint little hidden gem! This was my first B&B experience and absolutely LOVED it! We came to Antigua Capilla for our honeymoon after attending a wedding in Bernal QTO. We received personal attention from Antonieta from a week before check in, to the moment we left! I chose this place because of the view, it’s old warm charm and breakfast! Our experience was like if we were staying with family! I can’t express enough how wonderful the service was! Rita whipped up some awesome breakfast each morning with a different plate each day! We looked forward to what we could be having for breakfast! Besides some tasty breakfast, my husband and I enjoyed watching the hummingbirds chase each other around the courtyard and feed from the feeders lining the courtyard! All you’d hear were their chirping while sipping some hot coffee! Could watch for hours! We stayed in the Mexico suite. It was beautifully decorated without being overbearing. Since we stayed at the beginning of May, the days were warm and the nights cool. We slept with the windows open. The bed and linens were comfy and cozy. Loved all the accent lighting in the room and bathroom! It was all in the little details! The nights were quite which was a plus for my light sleeper husband! No city noise, no air traffic noise (we live in a city and this is the norm), no street racing lol. Antonieta’s husband also has a brewery and the B&B featured his brews that were pretty good! My husband had a few during our stay! The view from the rooftop terrace was amazing! Of the 4 nights we stayed, we went up there 3 nights! One day, we went back early to watch the rains come in! Wow! You’re high enough to view the entire town but close enough to point out landmarks! All in all, we fell in love with this place! I wish it was closer to home (Houston TX) so we could do weekends here! Can’t say enough about Antonieta! Amazing! She was so helpful in assisting us getting to the location. Communication a few days before helped me be better prepared. She booked our Covid test before our flight and informed us of what to expect and the process was smooth. She makes some pretty awesome granola! She was great to talk with in the morning! She always asked how our prior day went at breakfast and asked what we were doing for the day! She asked about my parent’s return back home! Very personable and sweet and friendly! Antonieta is the hostess you wish you always had! (I could keep going but just go and find out for yourself!) Only one little tip about getting here, take a taxi from the airport as the streets are not your traditional streets and you can easily get stuck lol. Plus renting a car proved to be much costlier than we wanted. Since it is up a hill, bring your good shoes and be advised that it is great cardio! I give Antigua Capilla 10 out of 5 stars!

It's a B&B, so how about I say a few things about the B and the B? The rooms are individually decorated and designed. The domed brick ceiling is a local design feature found throughout the city. The example in our room was visually stunning - a great piece of art to wake up to in the morning. The room was large, with high ceilings, and beautiful pieces of artwork collected from the surrounding cities and villages. And then there was the shower!!! Oh my, 20 feet up to a skylight and large enough to park a minivan in, featuring rainfall showerhead and entrances from two sides - fantastic. We stayed for 8 days and never saw the same breakfast. Each day featured an amazing array of options for breakfast, and always something hot and savory if you wanted it. Each meal was a masterpiece. I should also mention the rooftop patio. There's a common area on top of the resort with a gorgeous view over the city of San Miguel and comfortable tables and chairs around to enjoy some fine tequila over ice. The balance of hospitality and privacy offered by the owners was spot on perfect. In short, I really enjoyed staying here. The one caution I would offer is this: while truly walking distance from downtown, if you're older, or you've got bad knees, or you're very out of shape, you're going to find the hill climb out of the city to the resort a challenge. The good news is that you can easily find a cab in el centro to take you to the top of the hill for about a buck and a half.

We received the most wonderful hospitality here, despite the owners being away due to a death in the family. The mother of one of the owners was the best host, and the staff were also excellent. We loved everything about the stay. Our room was beautiful, with art pieces from all over Mexico. Mexican cities are known for being noisy, but this B&B is completely within a tall wall (except of course the amazing roof top terrace), so it is very quiet in the rooms, courtyard, and other public spaces (except roof, of course). The breakfasts were delicious. You can also get drinks for yourself at any time from a common refrigerator and indicate what you got using an honor system. This is one of the top stays I've experienced, and that includes Ritz-Carlton hotels. :-)

Way better than a hotel! The architecture and decor are amazing. Makes you feel like you're in an old hacienda. Incredible view on the rooftop too. There is an old church in the center that has been restored, which really adds to the charm. The hummingbirds provide entertainment while eating breakfast in the courtyard. The owner is very helpful and kind. All the extra details really made it a wonderful stay.

We recently made our second visit to SMA and returned to Antigua Capilla, a place that feels like coming home. Thoughtful design and beauty of varied Mexican artisanship all around you sets this place apart. Beds are heaven; love the boveda ceilings; fireplaces in every room. View from rooftop terrace is beautiful! City center an easy downhill walk; flag a taxi for low cost trip back to your haven away from hustle/bustle. Anonieta and Francisco are wonderful; any assistance provided for transport or taxis has always been flawless. Breakfast leaves you well-fueled for your adventures. Do yourself a favor! Antigua Capilla is exceptional!

Outstandingly well conceived B&B / boutique hotel with great sunrise views out over the colonial city of San Miguel de Allende. Owners Antonieta and Francisco who are from Central America by way of San Francisco were perfect hosts and by introducing us to Julieta, a very accomplished local guide absolutely made it a wonderful stay in all respects.

My husband and I LOVED the lovely Antigua Capilla B&B in San Miguel de Allende Mexico! Antonieta and her staff were kind and generous hosts who spared no efforts to make our visit all we'd hoped. The property is beautifully appointed with local art and ceramics and flowers and greenery are everywhere you look! Delicious breakfasts of the freshest fruits, egg specialties and bottomless coffee cups greeted us each morning in the charming courtyard. Trickling water from the fountain and buzzing of hummingbird wings created a magical atmosphere! Our room was luxurious and the bed so comfortable, made up in crisp, white linen. Although the walk up from the Centro is a bit steep, it was a tiny price to pay for the glorious, 360-degree view of the city and mountains from the hotel's rooftop garden. Antonieta and Fernando have posted YouTube videos of the property, which helped us choose it over other properties in San Miguel. We highly recommend the Antigua Capilla B&B!

A serene and atmospheric, family-run B&B just off the town center. Rooms are clean, spacious, individually decorated and beautiful. Slept well every night as beds were very comfortable and heated. Breakfast every morning is a different local dish and was delicious. Beautiful rooftop view overlooking all of San Miguel. If you are looking for a personal, relaxing and authentic stay in San Miguel de Allende, Antigua Capilla is the place to be. Highly recommend.
