Es hoy la Casa de la Cultura. Aquí es donde, en 1815, se inició la hechura de monedas de bronce llamadas cuartillas; pero fue con Benito Juárez que funcionó como tal en 1865 (por 14 meses), luego Porfirio Díaz ordenó cerrarla. El interior tiene tres niveles y muchas salas con exposiciones de monedas, cartonería, fotografías, pinturas y arte huichol.
En lo personal la zona de arte huichol y todo lo relacionado al Peyote me pareció muy interesante, es un sitio muy bien guardado por los locales en Real de Catorce y que merece toda la pena visitar, respetar y disfrutar.
Old Mint
It is today the House of Culture. This is where, in 1815, the making of bronze coins called cuartillas began; but it was with Benito Juárez that it functioned as such in 1865 (for 14 months), then Porfirio Díaz ordered to close it. The interior has three levels and many rooms with exhibits of coins, cardboard, photographs, paintings and Huichol art.
Personally, I found the Huichol art area and everything related to Peyote very interesting, it is a place that is very well guarded by the locals in Real de Catorce and that is worth visiting, respecting and enjoying.
