como prueba de ello existen vestigios en la parte trasera del altar de la iglesia. Es importante esta construccion por la razon de que el arzobispo de Mexico, fray Juan de Zumarraga expuso el ayate de Juan Diego en esta primera iglesia.
It is a construction of great historical character, since it is located where two hermitages were previously;
As proof of this, there are vestiges at the back of the church altar. This construction is important for the reason that the Archbishop of Mexico, Fray Juan de Zumarraga exposed Juan Diego's ayate in this first church.

Según la tradición, albergó la imagen de Santa María de Guadalupe desde 1695 hasta 1709 —año en que fue trasladada al templo conocido como Antigua Basílica— y el estandarte de Miguel Hidalgo desde 1853 hasta 1896. El nombre se debe a que originalmente esta capilla fue edificada para el culto de la población indígena a la Virgen. Se conservan debajo de la misma los cimientos de los dos primeros templos dedicados a la Virgen que mandó construir fray Juan de Zumarraga en el lugar indicado por San Juan Diego, días después de la por él declarada aparición de la Virgen de Guadalupe. Desde 1531 hasta su muerte en 1548, vivió en este lugar Juan Diego (y en el mismo lugar se conservan sus reliquias o restos), encargado de cuidar el primer templo.6
It is a temple built in 1649 by Luis Lasso de la Vega. According to tradition, it housed the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe from 1695 to 1709 year in which was transferred to the temple known as Antigua Basilica-and the banner of Miguel Hidalgo from 1853 to 1896. The name is because originally this chapel was built for the cult of the Virgin indigenous population. Preserved beneath it the foundation of the first two temples dedicated to the Virgin who built Fray Juan de Zumarraga in the right place at San Juan Diego, days after he declared by apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe. From 1531 until his death in 1548, he lived in this place Juan Diego (and in the same place his relics or remains are preserved), in charge of caring for the first templo.6

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ El acceso al templo no es plano es algo elevado pero igual es un lugar donde se puede entrar a meditar y tener paz interior y estar en comunicación con Dios. Es un lugar místico y de mucha religiosidad. Bien conservado en este caso la figura central es Juan Diego y su devoción a la virgen.
The access to the temple is not flat is somewhat elevated but it is also a place where you can enter to meditate and have inner peace and be in communication with God. It is a mystical and religious place. Well preserved in this case the central figure is Juan Diego and his devotion to the virgin.

Esta Ermita albergó el ayate en primera instancia (1695)
Según los restos de San Juan Diego descansan aquí.
También en algún momento estuvo el estandarte de Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla después de que fuera capturado.
Independientemente de todo el entrar aquí invita a la reflexión.
Muy recomendable para ir con la familia y visita obligada si se visita la Basílica de Guadalupe.
A truly fascinating place, it contains the vestiges of the first Hermitage.
This Hermitage housed the ayate in the first instance (1695)
According to the remains of San Juan Diego rest here.
Also at some point was the banner of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla after he was captured.
