DIRTY / SMELLY / AWFUL My life has been full and I have travelled the world over. I’ve been to countries far and near. I have seen lands high and low and visited people new and old. I have stayed in plantations, castles, villas, chicken coupes, horse barns and yurts. But nothing compares to my stay here at Aqua Terra 101. Where should I begin…….? When if first walked through the door I was accosted by the overwhelming stench of roach spray and mold; so bad in fact that I gasped. This olfactory assault was to be the unrelenting roommate that we couldn’t rid. As we walked through this hovel we quickly discovered the other nightmares that were waiting for us behind each little corner. It was hard to decide which was worse… was it the smear of menstruation on the toilet seat in the master bathroom, or perhaps the slow draining drain in the shower that gave you only 3 minutes until the shower pan overflowed or maybe the noisy air conditioning units that would get louder and louder. Maybe it was the years of FILTHY cabinet handles. All these were a close tie to the beautiful view from the bedroom balcony directly into the women’s bathroom in the pool area where the door was left open 24 hours a day. I should mention we were greeted to the sight of an elderly and inebriated woman passed out on one of the pool beds when we opened the dirty curtains to the patio. Oh what jem we have discovered, the Taj Mahal of Playa del Carmen is waiting for you, here at Aqua Terra 101.
