E	Eduardo C on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Matacanes es una sección encañonada del Río Lagunillas, un recorrido de 12 km no más de 7 kilómetros sobre el río con imponentes paredes y suelo pedregoso lleno de obstáculos como peñones, múltiples cascadas, desniveles abruptos, y cueva a los que debe su reciente nombre (Matacanes) por su constitución de material rocoso y formaciones caprichosas hechas por el correr del agua y sus minerales a lo largo del tiempo, su trayectoria inicia desde la el cañón de Lagunillas y termina en el paraje de Las Adjuntas hasta donde el río cruza con el camino de Puerto Genovebo a Potrero Redondo, da cabida a esta majestuosa ruta conocida como Matacanes. Enclavado en la Sierra Madre Oriental en el Cañón de Adjuntas donde nace el río Ramós Coordenadas: Inicio Recorrido: Potrero Redondo 25º 15' 48.77" N, 100º 09' 42.05" W El Salto: Primer rappel 25º 17' 47" N, 100º 11 25 W Fin del Recorrido: Las Adjuntas 25º 18' 03" N, 100º 08' 28" W Para acceder desde la carretera Nacional México-Laredo Nº85 en la comunidad del El Cercado se toma al Poniente la carretera Santiago-Cuahuila Nº20 se recorre hasta Puerto Genovebo, en el km 10 aprox. se toma hacia la izquierda camino de terraceria hacia a Potrero Redondo hasta el río Las Adjuntas, son 9 km aprox. en este punto, ahí es donde terminaría el recorrido cuando se hace río abajo (al derecho), para empezar el recorrido río abajo habrá de seguirse unos 9 km más hasta Potrero Redondo, hasta ahí llegan los vehículos, después el recorrido se efectúa a pie, en Potrero Redondo empieza la ruta o recorrido de Matacanes. Para muchos visitantes les parece más cómodo por tiempo y menos riesgos hacer la ruta al río arriba (al revés) y solo llegar al Matacan de abajo que supondría como entre el 30% y 40% de la ruta completa, sin embargo con nivel de agua un poco elevado se tendrá más problemas para llegar al Matacan de abajo debido a que es necesario nadar contra corriente, lo que supone un mayor esfuerzo físico.
