 Beautiful construction in the shape of an arrowhead that is presumed to be an astronomical observatory. Undoubtedly in those days it looked more to heaven! :-)

A spectacular place and very well preserved, although it must be more beautiful in summer with the greenery that is seen on the postcards, because in December the grass is very burned.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Structure J often referred to as an Astronomical observatory is easily the most iconic building in Monte Alban. Its has an odd pentagonal shape and is not aligned with the rest of the buildings in the city. However one of its corners points directly north and there are a number of scholars who have hypothesized on various stellar alignments of the building's odd shape. There are vaulted passageways inside the building that are not accessible by public. An interesting and mysterious pyramid.
