Los chicos de Atrévete nos ayudaron a reservar un tour en catamarán a Isla Mujeres. Hubo barra libre, lunch a bordo, esnórquel y tiempo libre en la Isla. Les recomiendo rentar un carrito de golf. Fue una experiencia muy padre :)

We booked Atrevete through our hotel (Grand Hyatt). They were very responsive and helpful over email to hire us a private service to tour 3 cenotes of our choice. We paid a 50% deposit via PayPal over a month beforehand and was told we would pay the other 50% upon arrival at our hotel. When we showed up at their office in our hotel, the agent there had no idea what we were talking about and had to contact the main office. The main office also had no record of our reservation, despite the paper trail of emails we sent back and forth to each other including our PayPal confirmation receipt. Even after forwarding all these emails to the main office, and coming back 2 hours later, it still wasn't sorted out. It took up a half day of them to find our PayPal payment. After everything was sorted out, it came time to pay the final 50%. The agent in the office ended up charging us the full 100%! Of course, we were not happy and told him immediately his mistake. He could not refund us the charge on the spot. He offered cash from the driver on the day of our excursion instead. Of course we said no to that. We then asked if he could request the main office send it back via PayPal. He said to give him a few hours to figure it out. Eventually, we received a phone call from him and the 100% double charge was cancelled, and then he asked us to pay the 50% again since his mistake was cancelled. Of course, we were skeptical that the first charge would even be refunded. Luckily, eventually it was the next business day, but this was a huge headache and stressful for our first day of vacation, not to mention a waste of time. Highly recommend the Grand Hyatt not partner with them again! They are either fraudulent and tried to pull a fast one on us, or just highly incompetent. Then on the day of our excursion, our driver initially was lovely. However, on the last cenote we wanted to visit (Nicte Ha), the driver told us it was "muy fea" (or ugly) and recommended Casa Tortuga instead. Since we had such a wonderful relationship with him up to this point, we trusted him (albeit our fault!). He took us to Casa Tortuga which ended up having a $650 pesos fee per person. It was a total tourist trap! The cenotes were small and seemed artificial compared to the amazing ones we went to beforehand (Sac Actun and Taak Bi Ha). There were also WAY too many people--it felt like an amusement park. We even ran into a nice couple from Canada who we latched on to, who else felt like they were tricked into coming to this tourist trap by their driver (who also said their cenote of choice wasn't good). They also came to the conclusion that the driver must get some sort of kick-back for bringing tourists there. I really wish we were able to experience the natural beauty of Nicte Ha instead!
