About Aura Cocina Mexicana
Located in one of the most traditional neighborhoods of Mexico City where you can live the “barrio” lifestyle, the Roma Norte, Aura Cocina Mexicana will surprise you with an intimate cooking studio.
Either the intriguing eye-catching narrow façade observed from the sidewalk as a small minimalist front in intense blue with Mexican reminiscences, the pink wall that ultimately confers the character of the AURA house, the interesting murals of shadows and lights that floods the kitchen and dining room or the carefully selected crafts and furniture that proudly showcases the work of local communities; you will feel comfortable and at home the way we live it in Mexico:
“Mi casa es tu casa”.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We did the Authentic Mexican Cooking class with Krys and enjoyed it very much. The food was delicious, the cooking experience so much fun and Krys very knowledgeable. Krys and her team were also super nice. As part of the class we also visited Medellin market and some other food stalls close by where we did not only learn a lot but also had the chance to taste different things. We really liked that add-on to the class. Overall, it was a great experience and we can highly recommend it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went with my partner in 2019 and took the Salsa class. Graciela was incredibly vibrant, knowledgeable and dynamic. We had such a great time that 3 years later, we took our entire bachelors party of 12 back! This was the perfect experience for our private group. We loved the market visit, the diverse dishes we made (tamales, salsas, cornbread, mole blanco), the accompanying mezcals, and the fun games they incorporated in our experience! We really appreciated the attentiveness of Lorena and Krystel to make our day SO much fun and educational.
Thank you!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our cooking class with Krystel was one of the best cultural tourism experiences we have had in CDMX or anywhere - amazing! Highly recommend Aura for a small-group, hands-on delicious meal and cooking experience, and the market tour before cooking was also a highlight to get to learn and taste different things often found locally.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I took a class with Graciela at Aura Cocina Mexicana and it was so amazing. Gracelia and everyone there was very warm and so knowledgeable. And of course the food was amazing.
It is also a beautiful space that is curated with so much thought and love to represent the culture and art of Mexico.
Looking forward to taking more classes!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Authentic Mexican Cooking class was such a phenomenal experience from start to finish. We ended the day feeling that Aura had gone above and beyond what we had anticipated and that the value of the course was superb for the cost. We're vegan and we were easily and thoughtfully accommodated which was very much appreciated. I've already booked to do the Mastering Mexican Salsas class when my mom comes to visit in a few weeks!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I came here for a cooking class 3/13 while in Mexico City. I had a great time. The store and market tour was super fun and insightful. Graciela is super friendly and answered all of our questions. The group I was with was so much fun. I think this class introduced me more into Mexican cuisine than I had ever learned. I feel that the class was well organized and we all worked together to cook the food. I highly recommend their virtual or in person classes which I have done both and they were great.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ During our first visit to Mexico, we took the Street Tacos Class. It was an AMAZING experience: we started out with a coffee in the morning, then made a round of introductions and headed out to the neighborhood to visit some venues (trying hard not to give away any spoilers...). We came back to the kitchen and cooked away. Gaby, our chef, was just great: knowledgeable, patient and passionate about Mexican cuisine. We ended up the cooking class with a tasting of the tacos we made ourselves.
Back for a second visit in January, we took the Mexican salsas lesson, also with Gaby. This class was amazing and definitely sealed our love for Mexican cuisine.
To me, I measure the success of this experience by the fact that back home I am constantly visiting the Mexican grocery stores and cooking Mexican food at home.
Those experience were in-person. I will definitely try out the online classes.
