Autobuses locales que hacen el recorrido hasta Monte Albán, I/v por 80 pesos. Opción alternativa a los tours si lo único que se quiere es ver la arqueología. Salen a las 9 y vuelven a las 13,30, aunque puede haber más horarios.

Bus services for monte alban was great and on time. Guided tour a bit useless with no much information and very low quality guide. Strongly discouraged

We took the bus to Monte Alban. The buses leave every hour at the half-hour mark. We bought our ticket 30 minutes before and there was still plenty of space on the bus. It’s cash only and costs $60MXN for a roundtrip ticket. The buses leave Monte Alban every hour on the hour. Bus was in good repair, clean and basic, nothing fancy but exactly what we were looking for.

Scam, do not use. Ticket seller stole 100 mxn from me. Paid with a 200, received change as if I’d paid with 100. Didn’t know enough Spanish to argue and she knew this. Thanks for nothing.

Went to Monte Alban via this bus. Very easy to get here. I was expecting a bus terminal but it’s actually just a store front. They will then guide you to the green bus in the area or you will have to wait for one. You’ll pay $90 pesos in the station/store front for a round trip. On the way back just look for the green bus again.

Took first bus of day at 9 am, booked 30 min ahead without issue, 90 pesos round trip, returns each hour starting at 11:30. I bought ticket to return 12:30 but got on 11:30 bus without issue. Others also bought 1way tickets back to Oaxaca on the spot at Mt Albán (50 pesos). On route up bus stopped briefly along way to pick up a few people who work at Mt Albán which allowed us to skip the line of cars and busses waiting for park to open and we were the first to enter when it opened (without a wait). Basically had place to ourselves for first 30mins! Seems they may be bending rules to do this so don’t know if always the case. Only downside of arriving this early is I wasn’t able to find a guide without waiting for more people to enter and find group. I opted to explore without guide rather than wait until crowds arrived.
