A total scam, we ended paying double the AMEX ‘s reservation amount with all the insurances and fees that they charge you, they take advantage that you are already tired of the trip to go out to find another car rental

Elizabeth De La A Garay is one of the kindest people. At first there was an issue and she was so patient and kind and resolved the issue right away. Thank you so much.

Watch your self and your wallet when you rent a Hertz car in Mexico. I rented from Hertz in Cancun airport. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!! Numbers below are USD not pesos. Read and question everything. A $350 rental ended up costing $850+. They know your in a rush and magically cant speak English well. They tacked on insurance coverage I didn't ask for. The coverage which was more then the car. Also taxs and fees were $200+. I prepaid gas which I suggest. I recieved car with half tank. When I returned it they initially charged me for a full tank. That I caught. They all look so innocent. They rip you off as they smile at you. Very shady !!! Shop around and look by reviews. Seems to be rampant if you read the reviews. I did see 2 rental company's with much better reviews. City car rental has better reviews. Will try them next time. Dont know how Hertz corporate allows this. Going to slam them next!!!!!!!

Avasa in Playa is terrible. We had a reservation for a car with car seat for our toddler. We were repeatedly told no car was available. After waiting 5 hours, we again were told a car was not available until I had a very firm discussion with the manager. The car miraculously appeared in their lot. We never got a baby seat. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!

It is a shame that Hertz is associated with Avasa. I make my reservations on the Hertz app only to get skinned alive by the outrageous insurance fees that can’t be almost the same as the daily fee! It is obvious by all the reviews that this company is robbing us blind.Hertz needs to clean this mess up!!

!!!RED ALERT!!! Total Scam They do have Hertz, Firefly, Thrift, and Dollar, etc companies.. They just slam with insurance prices on your rental. No matter what, you have to take their insurance. We rented for 4 days and the base rental price is $230 and ended up paying $680 all in USD. When you make a online reservation it says $230 dollars and they convert that with 22.66 pesos. And they charge you in Mexican pesos after discussing prices in dollars. With over a one hour conversation they said my rental would be $598 USD. If you use USA issues cards they talk in USD rates and to convert USD to Mexican pesos they have a rate and they charge that. it would be 22.66 Mexican pesos per 1 dollar. In my case it was $13,550 pesos somethings is what they charged in my card. When I looked at my bank statement I realized it was actually $680 US dollars is what got charged. This happens because they talk the values in USD and they have a conversion rate to charge in pesos where as Bank will only give around $20 pesos for one dollar. So in my case my bank posted a charge of $680 dollars to give $13,550 pesos to Avasa… it’s a total scam… all they do is rush you up and still I was there for almost 90 mins to discuss and see my options. Red Alert Total Scam

BEWARE! I used Hertz Playa del Carmen. They left né without a car for 2 of my 4 days reservation. The only customer service offered was "we are not responsible. Check the legal disclaimer". Once they finally got a car they forced me to take their CDW(LDW) or a USD 20,000 authorization on my card, in spite of my card having coverage. When I got there to return the car at closing hour the office was already closed (before the hour!!) and they charged me an extra day at higher price than agreed on reservation.
