I did the Artesanal Enchantment tour with Aviaco Tours in Oaxaca and although it is true that there was a bit of a delay in the pick-up in the morning, the experience has been very positive. We first went to Tule to see the impressive tree, sadly cordoned off by Covid, although it is possible to get up close to it. I did this tour to see mainly boil water (spectacular) but I did not expect that we also looked in a traditional Artisan bakery (delicious) and we would visit a family textile house or a mezcal house to know the complete process of making mezcal. A highly recommended and very interesting tour! ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excelente servicio!!...

Highly recommended!!!... Very formal!!! From the promoter of the zócalo (Leilani), Aidé the guide, the driver, all very attentive and professional!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very poor tour they did not take me where they told me. It’s basically a expensive taxi.
They offered us one thing and they give us something else.
They are selling a tour but they just drive you to where you actually have to pay for the tour (this is not told by the guide until you get there)
They do take you to a horrible buffet.
They do not approach the archaeological sites or the tule tree.
They promise to take you to San José del Pacifico but instead they take you to a town 40 mins further and it’s nothing like San José. You have to pay for a lot of fees there that they don’t tell you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They basically sell different tours to different people and put them in the same bus, which then does a standartized tour that no one on the bus has booked - don't do it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We paid 500 pesos for the tour #2 to Hierve de agua as foreigners. Locals paid 400 pesos for the same tour. The extra entrance fees are not covered by that and were not fully communicated in advance (although we asked for this information before booking).
The tour generally lasted too long, more than 12 hours. It felt like that the last 2 Stopps were just to make us buy something at the carpet place and at the candle farm. In the evening the operators dropped us off as Zocalo, not as expected at our Airbnb. The guide only translated half of the information to English - which can be nice if you can understand Spanish and want to improve but not nice if you expect an usual Englisch tour.
The food for an extra cost of 165 pesos was good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ NEVER AGAIN WITH AVIACO. Really disappointed! The tour to Hierve el Agua was a desaster! The tr was supposed to be in english, but the guide didn't even try to explain at least some simple things in english when we told him that this was the package we booked and we don't understand Spanish. Even in spanish he didnt explain many things, which leads the spanish speaking customers to share their own knowledge with eachother ans trying their best to explain to us aswell.
The guide didn't even care, sleeping between the stops and not even join the group to the points of interest, telling us, we have to go alone. In Hierve el Agua we were supposed to have 2 hours, but he gave us only 40 minutes. Furthermore no one of the group wanted to have buffet-lunch, but he insisted we have to go there and at the end we all waited ONE hour for him and the driver to eat there.
Furthermore the driver was simply dangerous! Driving like from hell, we all thought we won't make it the way back down the mountains. Ignoring streetbumps and people asking him to drive more careful because they had their coffee all over their clothes.
NEVER AGAIN!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We took the tour 2, going to Hierve de Agua.
The tour included: (7:20 am to 20:00)
1. Visiting the 2,000 years old tree
2. Artisal Carpet making
3. Candle making shop
4. Mitla
5. Lunch buffet at "El Famoso"
6. Hierve el Agua
7. Mezcal tasting
I'd say the only thing worth visiting was Hierve El Agua, all the others excluding the 2,000 year old tree are for tourists , pushing people to visit expensive, and artisanal products (you can find same if not better products in the city for a more affordable price). The artisal places are quite desolated, and tight, not suitable for big groups.
At the information, we were told it would be a group of maximum 20 persons, it turned out that it was 20 persons "per mini bus", so three mini buses in total, close to 60 persons with only one guide.
Note: always ask if the lunch buffet is at "El Famoso", and try to avoid it, if you value your life, the place is so filthy and disgusting

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don’t recommend at all. I paid 400pesos and was shocked that entrance to hierva del agua was at additional cost.
I didn’t understand what I paid for, cause we were asked to pay propina everywhere ( to a guide , to a bus driver) and then we were taken to a buffet restaurant which was expensive and not included into the tour price. All my group was disappointed by that service .
Another guy got wrong information from a travel agent , he wanted to see the biggest tree but it was not included into our tour .
If you see this travel agent outside , ask him what’s included into a price , cause they lie a lot just to sell the tour
