The bay stretches from the town of San Blas along 25 miles of protected water to the village of Santa Cruz de Miramar. There’s good surfing spots on both ends, as well as in the colonial by the same name-Matanchen, also the miles long beach is, the same name, goes all the way to Aticama. There’s a variety of shoreline types as you travel South. All very interesting and beautiful to visit. The colonial Matanchen is the gateway to Las Ilitas beach, very pretty but be prepared for Jejens, long pants sleeves and bug spray. The coconut oil repellent sold in the colonial is very good and organic. Hope you visit, it’s a wonderful part of the world.

Nice hard sand for walking and lots of simple shells. I'd recommend bug repellent on your ankles - no-see-ums biting down there.
