First of all, if you’re looking for a “luxury” stay, please note that Bamoa is NOT a luxury stay. Everything looks good on paper, but is actually (in the staff’s own words)… “un poquito complicado”. A DUSTY GYM WITH NO AC There is a “gym” (on paper), but using it can get “un poquito complicado” because there is no AC, the machines are full of dust, spiderwebs, and the treadmill belts are loose and unsafe when you run on them. Feeling adventurous? Bring bug spray! NO RESIDENT CARDS We had on paper “clear passage and access” as we were long term guests for 2 months in Playacar 2 at Bamoa, but in reality that was also “un poquito complicado” because we were never given resident or guest cards. Every time we got into Playacar 2 we were harassed by the security guards guerrilla style asking us where we live, what our business was there, how long we are staying, what room we were staying in, etc. Also, unless you want to be harassed by guards again, note that there is no direct/easy access to the nicer part of the beach in Playacar without a resident/guest card, so you have to either ask for the security guard for a golf cart ride (BUT ONLY BEFORE 6PM!), walk for 20 to 30 minutes, or call a cab (which have a hard time getting into playacar as well). Also, cabs are unavailable on Sunday, so that’s “un poquito complicado” as well if you want to access the beach Sunday. WASHER AND DRYERS THAT MAKE YOU WORK Yes there are washer and dryer in the units, BUT… That’s also “un poquito complicado”, because the machines don’t really work well, and if you ask for help from staff, they won’t really know what to do either. The cycles for these machines spin out of control for HOURS, and in the end you’re left with damp smelly, shrunken clothes. Can't hang the clothes either, it's the bamoa rules. LACK OF AIRBNB ESSENTIALS FOR KITCHEN AND BATHROOM Yes, there is a nice kitchen and bathroom, but that’s also “un poquito complicado”. If you end up staying at a unit that is “ready” (cough cough… barely finished), you will be lacking basic airbnb essentials that like a toilet cleaner or a simple knife to cut a mango. NO HOT SHOWERS Yes there are rainfall shower heads installed that looks nice and modern, but if you’re looking for consistent hot water hmmmm that’s going to be well… you guessed it, “un poquito complicado”. We spent 15 days without hot water in the first unit, and in the second unit the hot water was inconsistent at times. HAGGLING THE UNIT PRICES AND ODD NEGOTIATIONS One of the biggest turn offs from staying at Bamoa was having to constantly haggle the prices of the units. First unit we paid in full and book on airbnb, but later after we paid we were told that actually hmm it’s “un poquito complicado” because the unit is TAKEN. This has never happened to us in Airbnb. Then the in the next unit, they wanted to increase the pricing up 33%, and after that, another 66%! This all during Covid-19, when barely any people were coming in for “the high season”. If you stay here, make sure to ask others what prices they are paying as you may find out that you are actually being ripped off and overcharged. CONTSTANT ANOYYING TEXTS Do not give your personal phone number to management! You will have multiple texts coming your way that it feels like you can never really settle in the unit and just work or relax. THE GOOD The infinity pool is well built and you can see a lovely sunset when bathing in it. The pool downstairs faces lush green trees as well, and is maintained for the most part in pretty good shape. Diego (the maintenance guy) and Fabian (the door man) are really nice people. Having a luxury stay should be easy, have all the essentials and amenities covered and working great. Also, the pricing should be something you discuss once in a simple fashion, not like you are going to the market with your abuelita to haggle on prices with the “hombre de las fruits”. We turned down their 33% increase in rent, and ventured out during Covid to Croatia instead!

This is our first time staying at bamoa and we love it. The facility is new, spacious, beautiful, and well looked after. It is a 20-30 minute walk to playa 5th ave, the beach, or groceries from Chedraui or Sorianas in the Centro Maya mall. They have a golf cart that will take you wherever you want in playacar. We like the exercise and don’t mind the walk. There is a Oxo convenience store across the street and three restaurants. The central court yard, where the pools are,is very calm relaxing and never overcrowded. The managers are friendly and attentive as well as the workers. Because we are here for two months we have no problem buying some things which we will leave here that make our stay more accommodating. The furnishings are comfortable and very adequate. We hope to come and stay here again ◦

Each apartment has different owner and equipment. I won’t say I haven’t had issues, because the hard water does affect things and previous tenants may take or break stuff. Management is very responsive, I kept their number my first time when I booked Airbnb and now we deal directly. I got Unit 315 my first time and liked the huge bathroom and laundry room, quiet, blackout shades, tree view, and separate washer/dryer. Second time I got 103 which is on the bottom floor facing the pool. This was the best decorated and best equipped (two blenders, espresso cups, three types of plates, big samsung tv that airplays with mac, DISHWASHER, scented soap). It is the coolest in temp, It’s easy to come in and out, easy to throw out your trash, but it’s got some noise from the pool pump and from noisy people at the pool. 3rd stay I got 317, which is very basic in terms of decor and things to cook. And last I got 316, which is the same layout as 315 and I love both. In terms of amenities, the rooftop pool and hot tub are my favorite part! There are also charcoal grills. The gym broke during the hurricane. The walk to the beach access is not bad at all but you can always bike or take a golf cart lift to the Playacar gate to shorten the effort

Equipment was not working. In the middle of the summer, our refrigerator and air conditioner were not working, the employees were not interested, we asked them to fix it, but they were not interested, their boss said that we had to pay extra for it. I had a contract, I had made the payment, if I didn't have a previous contract, they would have gotten extra money from me, but they couldn't because I had a contract.

This is a real luxury residence compared to many other that you can find in town or even in Playacar. Pools are great and the service is top notch. I stayed on the apt 306 which is very well furnished and equipped. It has the best view on the pools thanks to its central location. I used Airbnb to rent.

Nice place inside Playacar, security is good. The streets are a lot wider and less traveled by noisy teens.

Completely unbelievable offer! After a week of renting an apartment, they told us that they changed the terms of the contract and we would have to pay more. We didn't but the equipment in the apartment did not work and they refused to repair. Watch out especially for Carlos and Guillermo Perez, don't trust any of their word.
