Got my permit on a September Saturday, it took me about 15 minutes, it could had been 10 but I needed copies, yeah have copies of your documents. Very good experience

This place is filthy, no A/C. We were there about 40 min and were 8th in line. Then systems went down and we waited 2 hours extra for system to come up again. I was baffled by the service they provide. The employees had us going back and forth through the windows. Then their was a guy who said he didn't have to give us our paperwork back if he didn't want to and he wouldn't sign our paper to pass to the next window. He expected us to pay him a couple hundred dollars. He then went on to "lecture" us for about 25 minutes without stopping. Finally he gave us the signature and let us pass but it was a horrible experience.

This is no different than a state DMV. If you have the original of everything - titles and registration for all vehicles, boats, motors, , and trailers you are fine. You can make copies there for 10 pesos. If you don’t have all the documents. It’s impossible. It’s best to do it online and get permits in the mail to avoid lines. Doing any business at any border crossing involves waiting.

Came by on Sunday and got my tourist visa and temp Import car sticker done in 10 minutes. Pretty straight forward as you just work your way from left to right (tourist visa, make copies, and then get a car import sticker). The employees were helpful too.

So, the US side of the border, government employees are required to be bilingual. The Mexico side of the border, the people only mumble spanish, signs and instructions are only in Spanish. ...they really don't welcome visitors, and they don't want U.S. tourism dollars. And a $400 deposit to drive your car in their country. Don't forget your vehicle registration receipt-- not the actual registration, but the receipt! 2 stars, because some of the employees are very nice, in spite of the place.

Smooth and easy process to obtain a vehicle permit as long as you have your original registration for your car (not a copy), your passport, personal permit, and payment(cash or credit card). Everyone was very kind even with my terrible Spanglish. Looking at the building, you just start from your far left entrance and they will direct you to the next applicable windows all the way down until you complete your goal. I typically avoid peak hours and weekends all together and have had great experiences each time. Also, extremely easy to cancel your car permit once you are ready to leave Mexico and get your payment back. As long as you keep the documentation they provided you in the beginning and cancel before the expiry date, you just pull up to the drive through station located at the far right end of the building, roll down the window and hand them your permit and confirm that you’re ready to cancel. They take a few pics, prepare a document for you to keep for your records and you’re all set. I got my deposit back on my credit card in just a couple of days.
