Magic place in Puerto Escondido. Kai, Jade and the rest of the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. They were a key part of the yoga retreat. The rooms, food, common areas were just perfect. Thank you for making this experience so warm and complete.

A paradise driven by a beautiful team. Location, atmosphere, service, details, nature, delicious food, great wifi connection for remote work. I stayed for 5 nights and I felt part of the Barbarenas family. I will go back for sure and I totally recommend it!

I can't say enough amazing things about this place. The people who run it are full of heart and want to make the experience there as wonderful as possible. The place is built with so much care, every detail has been thought of. The food is simply amazing, healthy and a joy to eat (I stayed 6 nights there). Oh and to work, the wifi works amazingly ! (something very unique in Puerto) Location is perfect where I can be a little away from the Punta nightlife while still being close enough to walk there anytime one wants. By far my favorite place to stay when I come to Puerto.

Barbarenas is a place where each stone, plant, animal, and human interact harmonious to create a healing oasis. I came for a retreat and decided to stay because of my incredible experience. In the past few weeks, I've unpacked and released a lot of emotional, mental, and physical blockages, made wonderful friends, and ate phenomenal vegan/vegetarian food. There is a wonderful variety of yoga classes from yin to yang, jikamukti, vinyasa; sound healing experiences; cacao ceremonies; surf lessons; and so much more. I'll be back!

Barbarenas is a truly magical space made with an abundance of love, creativity and attention to detail. Lush permaculture gardens mean you’re eating fresh tasty food every day, expertly prepared by the amazing staff (wasn’t expecting to have my top meal of the year here but it happened!). There’s an idyllic stone bridge with a pond underneath that feeds into a natural swimming pool surrounded by gardens and statues that are, like everything at Barbarenas, stunningly made out of organic materials. The cabanas are also beautifully organic and everything from the lamp shades to the outdoor showers to the wooden blinds has been made with care and feels good to take in, touch, walk on or sleep on. Had beautiful sleep every night and got to start every morning with a delicious smoothie taking in ocean views from the rooftop palapas which were also ideal for our yoga retreat. I’ll definitely be coming back to visit Kai and the beautiful Barbarenas team, and have my soul nourished once again.

I hosted a retreat here for 11 guests including myself and don't think I'll ever look anywhere else in Mexico. The space is so special, made with an enormous amount of love and attention to detail using permaculture techniques, ecological building and has a natural pool. Everyone one of my attendees was blown away and felt wrapped in a giant hug by the owner and his sweet and attentive staff. The food is next level, and everyone said was the best by far they've ever had on a retreat. The location itself is great, easy 10 minute walk to the middle of La Punta for beach, restaurants and shopping. It feels, however, tucked away and private once inside. If you're looking for a vacation spot, or place to attend or host a retreat, look no further <3

I want to simply say that this place was "perfect" (because it was), but there is much more to say about this beautiful place. I came for their yoga/surf retreat, hoping for just some respite and relaxation after having been in the thick of an NYC winter. What I experienced was not only that, but an incredibly kind and thoughtful owner/staff, amazing-AMAZING food, a location and space that seems to have considered every guest's possible wishes and, of course, very talented instructors for their classes/workshops. I’ll definitely be coming back again!

This place is a piece of art. You can feel that every detail has been thought out and perfected (the rooms, the huts, the roofs) at a point that it creates an atmosphere I found nowhere else. Also the experience in general was great, the owner and architect of the place is from Germany, and his story is very interesting.
