Barceló Karmina - 28867 Manzanillo

It's a paradise with amazing staff. When I couldn't sleep because of my brother's snoring they made me a cozy bed in the lobby so we all could enjoy or stay. Absolutely saved my vacation. I will always be so grateful.

On April 29 at 4:30pm, I was physically assaulted by a hotel employee named Felipe Villa. He works at the reception and from there he called my room, demanding the payment of $200 dollars because "by mistake he put me in the wrong room", I replied that he is responsible to fix his mistakes not me, and hung up. A few minutes later he knocked on my room door demanding that get out immediately or he would call security to get me out. I asked him to leave because I was alone, finishing my shower and I wasn't fully dressed. I tried to close the door but he prevented me by putting his foot inside my room! I got scared and yelled at him again to leave. He tried to enter anyways!! I pushed the door with all my strength to close it and started crying. Anyway, Mr. Villa called security. I got dressed, went downstairs and asked to speak with the hotel manager who was Mr. Lorenzo Silva, Deputy Manager (Sub Director). He apologized and told me that Mr. Felipe Villa was a "very good employee" and that he would warning him. That did not happen because when left the hotel, Mr. Felipe Villa was working at the reception as if nothing had happened! I notice that his interaction with the female employees at the reception was very rough as well. Mr. Felipe Villa is dangerous and I hope that in a short time he will be arrested because I am sure that it is not the first incident in which he is involved with a female guest or employee. Barcelo Karmina Manzanillo is a dangerous hotel.

We had a great time @Barcelo. Food, staff and hotel were great. We really enjoyed the variety of food options as part of the all-inclusive package. We did not care for the beach but it didn’t ruin our experience.

Beautiful place with a wonderful water park with a very edgy slide that as it turns out it's meant for kids!! If you're in the area it's worth visiting. Note that we did not stay at the hotel but we did have food and plenty of cerveza.

Dec 30. I have never seen a hotel where the staff worked so hard and so friendly. The beautiful room and plush resort is very nice. Professional service was great. New Years Party was first rate, good vino, a real treat for everybody with every kind of food you can imagine. I have never seen anything like that. The World Famous Barcelo Karmina exceeded my expectations. It is an experience seldom occurs in life.

Friendly staff. Our room and the facilities were very clean. Service was excellent. Israel in the restaurant and Daniel Hernandez pool and beach attendant were top notch. Excellent Service with a smile and even helped us with our Spanish. We will be back..

This place sucks……. By far the worst place ever starting with the management. Some how they duplicated our reservation and insisted to charge us a cancelation fee for there mistake. Front desk manager wouldn’t handle it and we were forced to call the reservation number to resolve. It took them almost 2 hours to get us checked in. Nothing but drama. I told the manager I am embarrassed with his lack of management skills and lack of involvement when he sees a problem. He was very quick to remove himself of all complaints. Many guests complaining about multiple issues and he was quick to disappear each time. Once we were checked in after 5pm there was no food available. Buffet and all restaurants close at 5pm. Nothing opened until 6:30 and 7 pm but had to have reservations. We went to Breakfast buffet at 10am and we were told no tables available and we were told to try another restaurant. Supposedly we paid for gold band VIP service and never saw any VIP service. The food is far below standard for a place that wants to believe they are so good. All staff is lacking good leadership throughout the entire facility and no leaders or management ever visible. I should go on with more disasters with this place but not worth it however this review and many others should be good reason for you to stay away because everything is terrible so save yourself the frustration and disappointment.

Stayed for a few weeks while in town for work. So I got to know the resort well. Amazing staff overall, the 3 restaurants on grounds were great, the buffet was just above average for a buffet. In places the age of the building shows, but kept very clean and shiny in all the places I saw. Pools were great and beach was decent for it's size. Plenty of chairs around pools and beach with drinks brought to you at your convenience. I highly recommend this resort for stays of up to a week. Many amazing restaurants in the area and great sites to see within a short taxi ride
