★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a beautiful library and frankly looks completely out of place to the rest of the city in this regard. Modern, well organised, modern computing centres, beautiful reading and work spaces, sections for disabled... And just nice to pass through if nothing else.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are a lover of libraries or interesting public spaces, add this to your itinerary when visiting Mexico City. It's just a short walk from La Ciudadela and Mercado de San Juan and adds a nice diversity to the experience of the city. It is made up of several small libraries that house private collections each in uniquely designed spaces specifically for the owners of the collections. (I hope I got those details right!)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful relaxing building that’s free to walk around or sit with a drink. With the market nearby I don’t know why more people don’t visit this place to get out of the sun.
Get some juice or a soda and collapse on a bench with a good book. If you need a spot to plan out your stay/trip this could be it. Read about Mexico City or Trotsky or Frida. Or do that weird NYT thing where you look into your significant other’s eyes for 3 minutes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great option for taking your kids while in Mexico City and your wife is shopping for endless hours in La Ciudadela market. ;) Such a peaceful and wonderful place! Kids library got an interesting collection and the communal space and garden is perfect for seating down and quiet time. You wont regret it. My kids didn’t want to leave.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hours posted on Google Maps are 9:30 am to 4:30 pm 7 days a week. I showed up on a Monday and it was closed. This is not a holiday. I circled the building; all gates were locked, and there were no signs posting hours. The library’s website is useless and posts no hours. I think it may always be closed Mondays because (1) a lot of CDMX’s cultural institutions are closed Mondays, and (2) very few of permanent used book vendors along the west side of the library were open, as if anticipating that few readers would be on the street that day.
