As I read in other reviews (too late) the hotel doesn’t care about you having a good/great experience, in so many ways. To sum it up: ROOMS We were charged more than 400 USD (on high season, but still!) per night for a bungalow with the ceiling coming off in form of a strange dust (the straw-made roof) both near the sink and on top of the beds! The lighting is also pretty bad, with a bulb sticking out with a direct light that was rather disturbing. The shower very weak. The beds are tiny and “wrapped” in a plastic net that is out there to collect the dirt from the roof rather than being romantic (it is not trust me). I understand that the hotel is located on an island with limited resources, but the standards are pretty low. SERVICE This is by far the WORST service I have ever received in a Hotel ever, and I am not actually exaggerating it. Other guests that we met there felt the same way. The attitude here is pretty much NO to every little request, unless they can charge for it than they will do it. Extremely poor pro activity, to the level of ridicule. We experienced everything during our stay (2 weeks unfortunately): cold coffee, tables with different highs ( free matching table were available, but we got a NO for an answer), no water in the room every once in a while, obviously NO laundry (if you stay there more than a week it will be challenging), chewy octopus (the conversation went like this: waiter: how was the octopus sir? Me: Very chewy actually, I left half there. Waiter: Ok!) There is an Argentinian waiter who is worth mentioning - depending on his mood he can be quite gentle - otherwise the service really is a nightmare there’s. FOOD The food is not bad, not great. The problem is breakfast. They have a selection of 5 breakfasts, 90% is eggs, with NO variations and no openness to change. They will charge you for an avocado if you ask, although breakfast is included. They will serve you always the same thing. You will breathe eggs when leaving this place. The price of the avocado btw varies from 25mx for 1 avocado (half rotten but we have given you more sir because we are nice to you) to 100mx for half an avocado depending who you ask to, their mood and whatever answer they come up with at the time you ask. Ah, for great food I recommend SER ESENCIA (fine dining) and ARTE SANO (simple, plant based eatery) LOCATION the best thing about the stay, a 10 minute walk to the center so not so loud. We loved the location. OVERALL Definitely overpriced for the rooms and facilities, but for the service I wouldn’t go back if it was free. It was really one off a kind bad.

The overall experience was bad about Holbox. Its far away drive for nothings special basically. We booked Blue Holbox as it looked great on the photos and its close to the white sand beaches and have a pool. It felt overpriced though. Try to take only a short note about our experience. Holbox is nothing special compare to Tulum, etc. The “hotel” is not a 4 star and nothing like on the pictures, the rooms are old, far from the beach, dark. It is a big construction site, they jus build all the bungalows around continously, noisy! NO HOT WATER in the room, dirty rooms and the safe was not working! The pool is dirty and a children cannot play and swim in it. The beach is distgusting not white and blue like on the pictures. Its full of wide 2-3 meters thick smelly rotten seaweed. The sand is hard like stone! There is dunes of seaweed on the beach. In all hotels when we asked for 1 dl of hot milk for our 2 year old child they just happily gave it to us, here they asked 50 pesos:) We told the manager we want to just pay for 1 night and leave in the morning, we asked to pay us back the rest of the 3 nights. They said wait till the morning and we sort this out, offered a same room but on a different spot, they did not want to understand that we want to leave as this is nothing like they told and promoted. They were very rude and said they cannot do refund. Never offered to help so we left and booked another hotel in costa mujeres not to ruin our last days in Mexico. Blue Holbox is the worst place i have ever been, hope people read this and they choose a different place to stay if they want to visit the island.

We stayed here for a week in mid-Feb 2022. Whilst it’s not a luxurious 5 star hotel, it was exactly what we wanted - comfy rooms with decent sized beds, the shower worked, there was a safe for your valuables, extremely peaceful, and a great stretch of beach (they clear the seaweed off the beach as well, so aesthetically nicer than other hotel beachfronts). The staff were helpful (Mariana was particularly great, she helped us organise our airport transfer(s) and PCR tests). Breakfast does get a bit repetitive but you can always walk 5 minutes along the beach to eat somewhere else if you get bored). Also it’s only a 10 minute walk into town, close enough to head out for drinks and dinner at night, far enough away that you won’t be bothered by people partying later on when you’re trying to sleep. If you want a 5 star luxury hotel then this place probably isn’t for you, but if you want peace and quiet and a great spot on the beach to relax and read your book, then I would definitely recommend.

We went to the bar to have a few drinks, the waiter included himself a tip of 20% a still was perfectly willing to take the rest of the change. The hotel may be nice, but keep out of the bar.

Although we didn’t stay at the hotel, we went to the bar to have a coffee and crepes. They brought the coffee immediately and the crepes 20 Minutes later. As we complained that the coffee was already cold they refused to bring fresh coffee unless we paid for it. They said that we should have told them that we wanted to have the food and drinks at the same time. We called the manager and he was really aggressive. Very unprofessional

Way overpriced for what you get. Old smelly rooms, the moskito net is completely ruined, the complimentary breakfast is a joke - no proper coffee, the food is not even good and you get a choice of only three options. The only good thing about this place is the location at the beach.

This hotel is very beautiful, however so is every other hotel along the beach in Holbox. Unfortunately the service at the hotel is really bad and not what you pay for and that is why we have given it a bad review. If you are reading this review I would save or spend the money elsewhere on a different hotel. There was a lady at reception who was not very helpful from the start and often just shrugged at you in her response. The details on booking.com say the ocean view rooms come with a mosquito net - they don’t and the reception ladies response was to say the curtain at the window was a mosquito net and there was nothing they could do. We had a hammock outside our room which broke during the night due strong winds - this was never replaced. There was an older male waiter who would serve us at breakfast - he was miserable - every day. The hotel would only allow you to have one bad cup of filter coffee or one cup of tea (ran out of black tea first day and never restocked) each day for breakfast, this was the same with juice, just one cup a day and they would state it clearly each morning. The breakfast was the same each day, no variation from pancakes (2) or eggs, and again as you can imagine the portions were small. Up and down the beach you will see other hotel guests fill the beach beds up outside - not at this hotel - it was dead for a very clear reason.

Really lovely people at the front desk. Grounds are perfectly maintained. The beach is beautiful. The rooms themselves are a little rough around the edges but over all totally lovely. Air conditioning and fans to boot. I’m not sure the mosquito nets are 100% necessary but i appreciate the effort. Only negatives are that it’s a bit far from town and taxis can add up about $10 for an under a mile trip. Also the shower is super weird. We weren’t able to get hot water and the pipes would make a screeching noise for the first few seconds of use. The hotel had instructions for how to make the water warmer but we didn’t have luck.
