★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bodega Aurrera perteneció en primer lugar a una tienda de almacenes llamada “Almacenes Aurrerá”. Estos almacenes fueron creados en el año en el año 1958 por Manuel, Plácido y Jerónimo Arango bajo el nombre “Central de ropa”. Tiempo después, sus fundadores decidieron cambiar la categoría a tienda minorista cambiando su nombre a Aurrerá, convirtiéndose así en la segunda tienda mexicana de este tipo.
Después de recibir numerosas ganancias, esta tienda abrió su primer centro comercial en 1960 con la finalidad de expandirse y ampliar su número de clientes potenciales. En el año 1965 realizó un pacto comercial con Jewel Corporation para modernizar y expandirse aún más y gracias a esto en 1967 nació el formato Superama marca parte de Almacenes Aurrerá.
En 1970 Almacenes Aurrera decide abrir un nuevo formato de tienda con el nombre de “Bodega Aurrerá”. Además de estas tiendas, Almacenes Aurrera también abre una cadena de restaurantes llamada Vips (que fue Exportada a España, así como también una división de la marca Aurrera cedida tiempo después a Galerías Preciados)
Durante los años 70, almacenes Aurrera y sus marcas tuvieron gran éxito en México posicionándose como líder en el nicho hipermercados, con grandes ganancias y numerosos beneficios para sus empleados.
Luego de su éxito, los fundadores de Almacenes Aurrera decidieron unirse a la Walmart Store, lo que sucedió específicamente en el año 1991. Después de la fusión, está marca se expandió aún más, llegando a tener más de 50 mil trabajadores en el año 1996
En 1997 Almacenes Aurrera y Walmart se afiliaron, bajo el esquema de filiación conjunta para crear Servicios Administrativos Walmart en donde ambas partes eran socios igualitarios. Las marcas pertenecientes a Almacenes Aurrera se convirtieron en tiendas Walmart Supercenter, excepto Superama y Bodega Aurrera que conservaron sus nombres.
Años después, Walmart paso a tener control total de la cadena para convertirse en Walmart de México. En la actualidad, Aurrera solo se conserva debido a la marca Bodegas Aurrera y solo forma parte de la imagen comercial.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hay veces qué tienen buen surtido, en otras ocasiones ni si quiera tienen precios en los productos. El personal atiende bien (no todos) pero en su mayoría son atentos. Lo pésimo es que en ocasiones a pesar de notar qué hay bastante gente, tienen una sola caja operando y eso es fastidiante. La gerente no se preocupa por tener agilidad en el proceso de cobro, no hay gel antibacterial mucho menos tapetes sanitizantes.
Sometimes they have a good assortment, at other times they don't even have prices on the products. The staff is good (not all) but mostly attentive. The bad thing is that sometimes despite noticing that there are quite a lot of people, they have only one box operating and that is annoying. The manager does not worry about being agile in the collection process, there is no antibacterial gel much less sanitizing mats.
