The firm has its origins in the merger of the banking and corporate legal practice that was founded in 1945. The firm was founded by Graduates Chilton Bryan, Aureliano González Vargas and David Haber in Mexico City and relocated to Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua in 1946.

Starting in the 1960s, the firm has played an important role in the formulation and implementation of Mexican development policy to include border economic expansion programs such as the "maquiladora”, participation in the restructuring of the private debt and the planning of corporate projects required by economic conditions in Mexico during the 1980s.

Bryan, González Vargas & González Baz actively participated in the economic liberalization policies that pushed Mexico to the forefront of the world economy, mainly with a view to the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), that was successfully negotiated between Mexico, the United States of America and Canada, for which the firm provided legal opinions to the Federal Government, based on the years of experience acquired representing the economic interests of international clients in Mexico.
