Budget - 77710 Playa del Carmen

FOR THOSE LOOKING TO RENT HERE! Rented a car on kayak and read the reviews so I knew what to expect in advance but for $13, I wanted to give it a try. Showed up and they didn’t have my reservation in the system… which was weird since kayak took me right to Budgets website to book. They found a car for me and I knew my credit card would only cover the CDW. Do I waived the CDW protection through them but purchased the Liability insurance since my credit card does not cover that. I believe this is the mandatory fee they make you purchase. Keep in mind, this is a good one to purchase anyways since if you cause someone’s death, you will be liable to pay out the possibly millions in damages if taken to court. The only thing I didn’t like is how much they charged for the damage deposit.. it was $2500!!! And it takes 5 business days to be returned to your credit card. Still waiting on mine to be given back to me.

Same as other reviews ... I should've read the reviews before reserving a car there. I went there and they said that the reservations are not honored here! If you are going there in a hot season, be careful. They may ruin your travel plans. I had to run from company to company to find a car for the day! DON'T RELY ON THESE PEOPLE!

It started with a one hour and half late to get my car , when finally got it, it was dirty , Just in case i had some wipes and clean the steering wheel, then to my surprilse , I used another site to book the car and to avoid headaches with using the CDw from credit card, I added when bookin, BUT this was Not the one from Budget , then due to refuse of their cdw , budget charges 8rls per day fora. Gps tracking ..? -For my luck, came late abot 1/2, and clerk was about to charge one more day, but given situation during pick ul i was forgiven, whew … Its hard to rent a car in mexico, all the time there are extra fees

Staff is very polite but cars are too old. I booked a VW Jetta and was given an old DIRTY Nissan Versa with 114000 Kilometers! The car wobbled at anything past 120km/h when we drove from Playa del Carmen to Chichen Itza. Was glad I made it back. The billing also was wrong. A US$167 rental was billed at US$580!! Obviously I intend to contest the charge.

Don’t rent in Playa del Carmen in general. We also ran from EuropeCar to Budget and get scammed. They say they will charge you a deposit but later you will find out that they did it with 2 different Company Names and charged you twice! I will never trust anyone in Playa again ?

As usual in PDC, read reviews before interact with business. And you won’t be disappointed a lot. Do not use third-party services for renting car here. Use ONLY budget official web site. And buy insurance on budget website. They have tried to add additional insurance package for me. But after I point that I’ve already bought insurance package on the budget site, they allowed it after 20 minutes of calling and confirming. Please be aware that you may receive manual transmission instead of automatic for the cheapest cars (I was ok with that). To sum up. Cheapest cars they have are in a poor condition (>100k km on odometer) Checkin process took 45 mins. Checkout - 10 mins. Security deposit was returned in 1 working day.

Booked a car here thru Expedia. Per Expedia, all legally-required insurance was included in the price. When I arrived, they had no record of my reservation. But the guy made a call and figured it out. No big deal. However, I couldn't take the car without purchasing additional insurance. Per guy, what I purchased already thru Expedia was not sufficient. Per Expedia, it was. Someone is being dishonest, and based on prior experience with Expedia and the rest of the google reviews about this place, it's pretty clear who is lying.

We made reservations for a vehicle for $40 including all fees and tax online. When you arrive, the salesman will force you to buy local insurance which is some bologna trash way to do business. Walked right out the door and next door to Hertz which also sucks but slightly more honest about it.
