Jorge, the man in the office is extremely helpful and friendly! Open and honest about what you have to pay, and what you're getting for you money! I would recommend to anybody looking to rent a car from Merida.

horrible service, and staff lies to customers so they get them to buy extra insurance that is not needed at 3 times the normal cost in other agencies. Will not recommend nor rent from this place ever again. Car was dirty, the guy told me it was because they were so busy that they didn't have time to clean it up.

DO NOT DEAL WITH BUDGET CAR RENTAL!!!! We purchased a package through Travelocity that included an economy car with full coverage insurance and airfare. Upon arrival there was a budget rep waiting for us and gave us a ride to the budget car rental office where we met a lady who told us that the full coverage we paid for through velocity was no good here and that we had to purchase their insurance for over $400.00 USD. We took a cab to our air bnb rental at Hermosa Casa Luz. Luckily the property owners were great and gave us a ride back to the airport the next morning where we were able to get a great deal with Firefly car rental.

Rented a car from this location. Got delayed a tremendous amount of time. Was being upscaled to larger car and insurance. Finally got into car after a long headache with customer service. Car disappeared on second night. Don't know what happened to it. Got jerked around by rental place and they tried multiple times to charge over $1500 USD on my card. No bill shown, made carbon copy of credit card and convinced to to sign with no dollar amount. Renter beware credit card scams

Avoid them! I had to wait almost 2 hours for a car to come from airport. I reserved a group of car, they gave me an inferior and charged the same. They tried to sell me SLI saying that I had no insurance at all, despite the reservation says clearly that I had the basic liability insurance (750,000 MXN). Al least, the car was good.

Avoid booking with Budget in Merida Airport. They were extremely unprofessional. I had a prepaid reservation that I made 4 months in advance. Fully paid. When I arrived there they tried to sell an extra insurance that was not required. SLI(supplementary liability insurance) is not a requirement in Mexico. According to Mexican law all rentals come with basic liability insurance. When I refused to purchase that insurance they said that they ran out of cars. The manager, Hector Ramirez, said that he will be cancelling the reservation. The reason this happened is because the deal I got on the car was good and they could rent it for more money during the busy season. The manager, Hecor Ramirez, repeatedly lied to us. He has no idea how to provide good customer service. People such as Hector Ramirez(manager) and his associates give Budget a bad name. They should work in a market stall and shouldn't represent an international company. Do not rent a car from Budget rental cars in Merida Airport to avoid being ripped off by these con artists.

Are you looking for adventure travel or no travel at all? Well, this is your place. The email they send you contains an address at the opposite side of town and it is NOT a nice part. Make sure you have a data plan to figure out where to go. When you arrive at the Budget office there is a sign telling you the office hours but the staff is nowhere to be found during the advertised business hours. When you call the person will tell you immediately that you are late and that is why they don’t have a car for you. After you tell them that they sent you the wrong address the guy tells you that they have not had cars since yesterday. I love when the target keeps changing. When you ask if they have cars at the airport he says no. When you call the office at the airport they say yes. Whoever runs this office is a clown- a true lifestyle manager. Never at work, not shy to lie and collecting a paycheck. Caution: when you then go next door to National or other local companies they charge you $100 USD a day for a tiny car and some want $1200-$2000 USD in security deposit - ans when you check their reviews they are terrible about returning the money. Not the way to attract visitors!

Both Jorge who took my reservation and Nellsy who I picked the car up from and returned to were extremely helpful and warm about the car, insurance and Merida as well as offering tips for local cenotes. Thank you and Budget, these employees deserve a raise! Not only were they knowledgeable about cars but they made my experience in a different country that much easier by both their local tips, patience with my Spanish and the English that they know. You’re lucky to have them as employees.
