We had such a poor experience renting from this company it’s sickening. I guess that every rental company will “reserve” you a car and not have it when you show up but this is not about that. If you’re a tourist or someone that hadn’t lived in Mexico for a long time (like my gf who is from Mexico City) then you may not have heard about “hoy no circula” or a law that restricts certain license plates to drive on certain days. We rented the car to use for four days Friday-Monday. We were headed back to return the car on Monday driving from San Luis Potosí to Mexico City. After passing through a toll booth 40 minutes from Mexico City, we were flagged down by a police officer to pull over so we did. We were informed that we were not allowed to be driving with that plate on that day per the pollution law. The police officer informed us we could be towed and pay a fine tomorrow or pay the fine to him and be free to go. We chose the later since we had to return the car that evening and check into our Airbnb. After much research on my end it seems that the plate in question would have needed a 0 or 00 hologram sticker which means they have had an emissions test done within the last 6 months to be eligible for an exception from the law (which it did not). We got back to the rental place to return the car livid. I wanted them to discount at least one day since the car technically wasn’t able to be driven and we in turn got a 3000 peso ticket for. They refused and blamed us for being so naive. They claimed that their car was exempt from this law and we should have called them to straighten it out. We were not about to disrespect this police officer to make a phone call. That’s a ridiculous request. IF the car actually was exempt , there should have been something clearly stated on the rental agreement. How negligent can you be? Nothing was mentioned about this pollution law, but after we paid the price for their negligence, then it’s still our fault? I’d stay far away from this rental company. I’m not sure how others operate as this was my first experience renting a car in Mexico City, but after this happened I may not come back at all.

Waiting for somebody at CDMX airport for an hour already with booking prepaid. Called 10 times already, every time they reassure me that SOMEBODY is going to come and get me, but no one still did! This is insane!

Budget does sound like the most economic rental car services. This is the worst rental company. Even though you reserve in advance a car and you get there they will tell you they dont have that car available anymore and

If you don't have strong nerves do not rent a car from there. Returning car is torture. They don't have signs for their office, you don't know where they are, they never pick up phones. They cost me missing flight and $1000 for new ticket. Stay AWAY!

No puedo recomendar usar este negocia para renta de autos. I cannot recommend that you pick this business to rent a car. They do not keep up with the maintenance on their vehicles. Be cautious and inspect the inside tire thread on the vehicle if you do rent here.

Had a good experience. Got a brand new car, counter guy was a little pushy about insurance, just stick to your insurance plan or credit card or use their insurance if you want. Otherwise friendly service, great car and convenient location.

We booked a car at Budget via Rentalcars app and prepaid it, but when we showed up at the airport, there was no one at the Budget counter. We called them several times and they assured us somebody is going to come and get us, but nobody came - we waited for 2 hours! More than that, we had to travel between airport terminals, while trying to find SOMEONE from Budget at one of their counters - unsuccessfully. Then we got to their office BY OURSELVES and they told us they simply didn’t have the car for us! As a result, we had to rent a car from different company.
