Bufo Alvarius - 77793 Tulum

Wow what an experience! Long story short- my bufo took two sessions (and I only did the second session at the advice of Jesus when on my cenote integration tour after the first). It is a bit pricey ($70 USD/night for a basic Jaguar) but I feel the private space is necessary to help one settle after such an ordeal as bufo. But after a chaotic and self conscious first ceremony, the second was absolutely everything I heard. I attribute much of the wonder of my time there to Mario, Jesus, Juan, and Tiffany! I can’t say enough about these beautiful persons. The only reason I am putting it at 4 stars is the price and there were 2 in staff/management that made it seem like a chore to help or go about my ceremony. That may just be my perception but I can only write what I feel to be true.

The good: The location is great, people are super nice, if you don’t know spanish you will struggle a bit to communicate. The rooms are very cozy and have very good ACs and decor. The food is VERY good. They have their own bikes to rent which is much cheaper and convenient than the rest of Tulum options. The Bad: The shared kitchen is practically useless and very dirty. The rooms have mold and if you put the AC below 22 degrees celsius it will start stinking of mold. The room lacks a table and a full mirror. The current mirror is too high for average height. The doors lock is complicated and no one explained it to me till the next day when the guy saw me struggling. They need better locks. The shared bathrooms are okay but it felt super unsafe to leave my room at 3 am to go to the bathroom because the sanctuary does not have a front gate and it seems like anyone can trespass at night. The pool was dirty and unswimmable. Overall, overpriced for what I was getting. But I did like my stay for the good reasons. I wish they had more security at night and a locked/private entrance to the sanctuary.

I went for a Bufo healing session. It was pretty good. The guide knew what she was doing, it wasnt my first time working with bufo medicine so I was comfortable with whatever was going to happen. I would recommend going to the Bufo Alvarius Sanctuary for a session if it isn't your very first time. They are friendly, professional and a nice safe space for it. =)

I had a great time doing the Bufo ceremony. I don't want to say too much to affect others experience but I guarantee it will be the best money you spend in Tulum, probably your life. All I can say is when it's over (about 10-15 minutes) lie back and relax and take it all in, you'll be in a rush to sit up and try and make sense of it all, but you have an hour to bask in the moment and you'll regret not doing so if you rush to leave. It's definitely not scary but also not fun like other psychedelics can be, it's a profoundly spiritual experience.

Very nice place to stay and relax. Great pool and the courtyard area is lovely. Kitchen is good and we cooked every and had no problems. Rooms are decent with comfortable beds although they are a bit dark with only two small lights. Good location on the road to the beaches in Tulum although everything around it is very expensive.

This is the place to do BUFO! Come experience it for a fraction of the price as in the States! These people are professional and know what they are doing. They really care about you and want the best for you. They even have professionally trained integration specialist. This is an amazing and beautiful place to have the most mystical experience of your life! The area is designed in a very natural flowing way. There is a lovely friendly cat roaming around. The people here are great vibes including the staff. The only thing I would change here is that the beds - which were either queen or full in the economy "Jaguar" room I stayed in - were a little hard for my taste. That said, this place is amazing! If you're hesitant, book a call with Mario beforehand. He was so helpful to me! They really do care!

Beautiful relaxing grounds and interesting design hotel. We went for shred bathrooms to save on Monday and they are also clean and beautiful. There’s people there if you need them but it’s also very much the case that you can come and go as you please and have a very independent stay. Also really lovely to have a kitchen for making breakfasts!
