★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing place up in the hills of sierra juarez. I did a 4 day package field trip with expediciones sierra norte. Fantastic people to deal with. If I could give more stars this counts fot 5 more stars. Pueblos malcumulados is an amazing place to be.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Positive: location is great. I can see wonderful sunset. and the town is small, clean and cute.. Negative: It looks like shelter in the middle of mountain for the emergancy situation. not cozy, too big, brick wall and rock floor. Thus It was crazy cold even in the summer..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Still closed as of march 14, 2022. I was told Lachatao is open to hikers like Cuajimoloyas. However there is no where to stay overnight in Lachatao or Amitlan. After 8 hi ours walking from the ecotourism hotel in Cuajimoloyas I was not so happy to find even the water turned off in bathrooms. So i walked halfway down to the VA highway and caught a moto down the rest and then a van up to 6km more to Ixtlan where i arrived right at dark to find hotel on google map that was open.
