Sure I'm without a home and haven't worked in three months (thanks, Vero!), but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to ruthlessly critique a bagel, which is just my way of comforting myself while I miss them terribly. "There just aren't good ones outside of the city, Tim, so you're not missing anything," I try to fool myself. It works for a while and then the craving comes back as unexpectedly as the E train going express on a weekday afternoon with no explanation at all. I've been on the hunt for a good bagel in CDMX for four years. I've just inhaled the best one yet. The only thing missing is the Hari Krishnas and hungover (or maybe still partying?) punk rockers in the background and I'd be back on St. Mark's Street in the East Village. I have a favorite comfort food for everywhere I've lived and the ? is it for NYC. Now that I found this place, I'm about to get reeeeeaaaal comfortable. Thanks guys:') PS— I just noticed my chai as I was finishing writing this and holy mother of all in-house blended chai spices....

Wow! We walked for 20 minutes to get to this little gem because we had read about the great baked goods and salads -- we were not disappointed. The salads are HUGE, fresh and so so so good! My boyfriend had an iced latte that he said was the best he's had while in the city. We couldn't leave without trying some of the butter cookies and brownies, so we brought a bunch home and they were THE best! I'm really sad that we discovered this spot so close to the end of our trip because this definitely would have been a regular stopping point. I'd love to go back and try their bagels too. Huge plus that everyone working there was so nice!!

I discovered this little whole in the wall café walking around the neighborhood. I ordered the carlota salad with chicken and was impressed by the size. It wasn't the richest salad in the world, but it was good and definitely had an interesting mix of ingredients. I also tried a couple of treats and the chai tea. All very good, made fresh that day, and priced super well. I'll definitely be going back soon! The best part is that all the people that work there are super friendly and passionate about their jobs!
