Café del Sol - 97000 Mérida

Over the past year and a half my wife and I have been on the hunt for random and good places to eat. Each weekend we try to find a new gem. We have driven by this spot many times without a second look as the exterior simply does not do justice of what is inside. The moment we walked in we were greeted right away by warm and friendly staff. We were given a choice of seating of all the available tables. We opted for the back garden which was nice and quiet and magically decorated. Sitting there you totally forget you're in the center of the city. Tons of fans set up for those that need to cool off. They had a variety of food and drink choices which made our decision hard as everything looked so good. I almost went for a burger due to my hunger but opted for the chicken burrito. I made a perfect choice. Presentation was perfect, food tasted fresh with each bite, perfectly made and seasoned. This is not a heavy burrito but a nice and fresh grilled chicken delight. My wife had a waffle... This was not just plain old waffle but one that was overloaded with toppings. It included Strawberries, blueberries, cream, ice cream and a few others. Each bite was like tasting a different waffle. Jamaica was made from scratch and not some concentrate, wife's cappuccino was also perfect with a nice touch of a colorful foam. Staff was all super friendly and welcoming, prices are what you would expect for presentation and quality of food. We have eaten at many breakfast/coffee shop places and this one easily falls in the top 3! Thank you again for an amazing spot and without a doubt we will see you again real soon!

After dinner on Saturday, we were walking around looking for coffee and dessert. We stumbled on this “Magical” place and wish we would have had dinner there instead. The greeter gave us a tour and allowed us to choose our seating. We chose the middle garden patio area. All the staff members were very welcoming and immediately made us feel at home. They was English pop music playing when we arrived. The song selection was upbeat and lively. Our server was wearing his mask but you could see his huge smile through his eyes as he described the drinks menu to us. Our Café Mocha and Mango Iced tea was presented beautifully as well as our Ice Cream desserts. Delicious! The “Magical” experience continued all around us as we relaxed, sipping our drinks, the barrista and the waiters began singing and dancing to the music. Just having fun and enjoying what they were doing. Then a lady set up with a microphone and soundtracks to sing a mix of Spanish and English songs. We had such an unexpected pleasant evening at Café del Sol and can’t wait to return (for food and entertainment) Thanks Everyone!! We will be back very soon!!

Great value for the price (23$ incl tip and croissant). Wonderful friendly service. Say hello to the restaurant cat.

A delightful place with fabulous food (we both ordered the mushroom, spinach, and squash omelets, which came with gorgeous garlicky potatoes, black beans, and tortillas). A little pricey, but that's partly the location, and it certainly delivered in both quantity and quality. Mostly outdoor seating, important in these COVID times, and friendly waitstaff. Recommended!

Very nice place to escape from the noisy streets and hide from the sun! They have a hidden garden that you can’t see from the front, but definitely the most beautiful decorated one. Drink your coffee there while listening to peaceful music :) prices are a little bit expensive but definitely worth it!

Ordered the gourmet burger. I asked for rare, but it came out well done. It still tasted good but it’s not a burger to get excited about. The cafe is cute, though. I like the outdoor seating area out the back.

My family and I had a great Mother's Day lunch at Café del Sol. We are from out of town, and we had heard some good things about this place from the locals, and decided to stop by. Listening to the mariachi while eating was a cool experience. Really loved the ambiance, the staff, and the food. The Espresso Afogatto was phenomenal.

This place is truly a hidden gem! The veggie menu selection sparkled from outside. However walking through the door it's like entering a fantasy world perfectly complimented with Paco the cat. The staff are a wonderful experience, the food was amazing and the almond croissant and vanilla milkshake is life!
