Went to the sea food market restaurant they have on site, the food and service was top notch, however it was very over priced but that's what you get in a beautiful property like that. Will definitely visit again

We didn't stay here, just had breakfast, but just seeing how amazing the views are, we will stay here next time. Very cozy place.

This place is an absolute dream! The best part of being here was meeting the team who works here - they are such wonderful people and the food and amenities are unparalleled! Thanks to this place for an exceptional experience.

Great service, amazing views. Sadly, the restaurant's food was horrible. I even got sick because of it.

Cala de Mar Resort & Spa Mrs. Awesome and I have been very fortunate to have traveled extensively over the last 10 or 12 years and warm sandy beaches have always been at the very top of our list of locations to seek out. This year, we selected Cala De Mar Resort and Spa, located in Ixtapa, Mexico based solely on their web site and previous reviews that have been posted. Here is what we discovered: The resort staff was waiting in the arrival area where they placed us in a resort provided, private taxi. Yes, transportation to and from the resort is provided by the resort and that’s very, very awesome as out of country transportation can be a challenge. Let’s talk about the resort itself. Cala De Mar offers a “stay for 7 days and pay for 5” which was our choice. The entire property is located on the side of an ocean cliff (no sandy beaches to walk on) and Mrs. Awesome wanted a high floor to maximize the view and we secured floor 6 of 7 floors total. This resort has a total of 59 suites and what is very special is the fact that you are not staying in a mega resort with 49 million rooms with an equal number of crazy guests. You will feel very much alone and very, very private. We like that. Our suite was very, very nice but I must report that the rooms are a tad small. You get a general, well air conditioned, sleeping area that doubles as your sitting area. In this area you will find your bed (exceptional mattress by the way) a couple of chairs, a color TV and a small refrigerator which is stocked with nonalcoholic beverages. Your bath area is adjacent to your sleeping area and might just be nicer than the bedroom area. That might sound odd, but you’ll find it a pleasure to shower, dress, etc. in this area. The only draw back of the bath area is that the air conditioning does not extend to this area, and you’ll find it very warm when you dress, bath, etc. Perhaps the very best highlight of your suite is the splash pool (one in every suite) which you will use daily. The view from the splash pool is exceptional, day or night and should you desire an adult beverage, a quick call to room service will render everything from ice cold beer to champaign. We used this service pretty much every day and the staff were very quick! Meals can also be provided in your room and the entire menu is available. There are several excursions you can pick from and we strongly recommend the baby turtle release. Very fun and educational to boot. You will dig up baby turtles, place them in a bucket and once the sun sets, release them into the surf. We dug up around 100 babies and this was a truly neat event. They served us dinner and pretty much as many beers as we wanted. We also took the evening sunset sail, and this is nothing short of a blast and a half. Fun folks with great music and an awesome sailing staff. Great sites and island views and I highly recommend you give this a try! If you’ve not done a trip to Mexico, make sure you take tons of small US dollars as you’ll be tipping pretty much everyone you encounter. From doormen to taxi drivers to room service, you’ll need to tip them all and if you’re not prepared, you’ll be converting US dollars to Peso’s all day long. The last think you want is to return to the USA with a bunch of Pesos you won’t be able to use once you return home. The other thing we loved was the flexible check out times. They don’t have a formal check out time! You tell them when your flight out is, and the resort arranges your transport back to the airport based upon your flight time. A very special and cool feature! The true star of this resort is their staff. We’ve never met or worked with a friendlier staff anywhere in the world! Every single staff member we met were not only happy and friendly, but they all went out of their way to assure that we were happy. They exceeded all our expectations, and they deserve a 6 star rating! I would certainly go back, and we hope you’ll give them a try as well. Thanks for reading

I have no words to explain how amazing this place is, starting from service to experience overall. We stay 4 nights to celebrate my birthday and I felt so good with all the treatment that the staff did, from the little decorations in our bed and the beautiful wishes from staff, If anyone looking for an amazing experience and great time, Don’t hesitate!!! I love it. Thanks to all the staff in Cala De Mar.

Perfect! Stunning view, great rooms and service. Nice and clean pool area. Amazing personal pool in the suite we stayed at. The private hotel beach is not really for swimming but there's lots of beaches a short drive from the hotel to choose from if you want to swim in the ocean. The food is good, especially The Seafood Market which is the hotel's own seafood restaurant with a fresh catch-of-the-day selection. We had a lovely stay!
