We were on our way along the beach to the restaurants and happened on these very well informed and dedicated people that actually live here. They do amazing work.

This volunteer led camp is melting hearts one turtle nest at a time. One of the only sea turtles camps open year round, enforcing awareness and safety from air, land and man predators. Yet thankfully inviting the public to come and participate!! How do you sign up?? Stalk their Facebook page!!! Follow & set your notifications to receive post alerts, wait & watch. Spots are only available same day a nest hatches, so major flexibility is key. They announce late afternoon and spots full very quickly. Tucked in the northern Puerto Vallarta coast, you can easily arrive here by taking Bocanegra street (Paseo Bocanegra) all the way to end till you hit the beach, if coming from the south. (Search for Bay view Grand hotel for better map results, but it’s the next street north) Your taxi/Uber driver will know. Give yourself 30 mins to reach camp, a simple beach walk up. Also, be sure to arrange your drive back or you’ll have to walk a very long way to nearest busy street with taxis (we simply took our Ubers # and called for pick up when done) Plan at least 1.30 hour for full experience. The experience was everything your child like wonder and excitement wishes for! And a long time wish of mine ? Really great experience for our family. The staff really care about what they’re doing and were really efficient. The entire experience was less than an hour but really organized. My kids already want to go back.

Very well run volunteer camp, you learn a lot about turtles and you are able to release babies if they are available. We learned they release the babies in less than 24 hours so they have the best chance of survival. The ones we released were born earlier in the day.
