Very cozy campground and family-run restaurant. There was a community of howler monkeys living in the trees above, so bring some earplugs! The campground was very ecological: rainwater showers, compost toilets, recycling bins... A true jungle experience off the beaten path.

We were looking for a camping experience in the jungle so we found out about this place. We have read some comments about it and we were very looking fwd to head to Calakmul area. As soon as we arrived the manager/owner talk to us through a window -without answering a 'good evening' and or show the face-. And we start asking questions, we have stay in places like this but never in Campeche jungle. A lady (who we supposed it s another manager/owner) say -without introduction- "you better see the tents, are high standard". Two staff guys show us the place. This two staff guys are nice and kind, they answer our questions and make a couple jokes. We see the tent and it is ok. NOTHING SPECIAL NOR COZY: doesn't have to be with 'high standard' description. Regular tent with two matress. I ask if we can have an smaller tent with a double bed and they told us that the price is the same if you sleep in a shared bed or in a double bed tent. Prices are for person, from what they said. Last question: is breakfast included? (in many accommodation around they include a morning meal and or coffee) No, it is 150 pesos. After visiting the camping we decided not to stay, and the main reason why we didn't spend the night was the rude attitude of the manager/owner who used sarcasm to answer every question we made about the camping and the services. He might think we must knew EVERYTHING about his camping before arriving. Now you guys know it: regular tents with matress inside and rude guy around. You welcome. Compared with the accommodation you can find around the area the prices are too high. Conhuas town it's only 3kms from Calakmul entrance and there are cabañas with private bathroom and breakfast (and hospitality included) included. If the camping experience it's about dealing with rude managers. This would be your ideal accommodation.

a camp site in the middle of the jungle well maintained. The bird watching tower is fun to climb (a bit scary too). They have food a bit expensive but in the middle of nowhere... The bad point is that there is no real option they try to organise to go see the ruins. You either have to pay a lot or hitchhike. Hitchhike worked fine for us.

+ We had a very good experience in this camping in the junglewith our host, Fernando: the camping is ecological, the food is wonderful and it was an amazing experience to be woken by the howling monkeys. - Expensive - Lot of mosquitos (which is normal in the jungle) - No more curtains in the shower

We loved our two nights at the camp site. Clearly it's rustic - no running water or electricity - which is what gives it an authentic, natural charm. The tents were well protected from mosquitos and very clean. Bedding is provided. We did the 2km loop hike around the Campsite and enjoyed sunrise from the top of the (slightly shaky) mirador. Monkeys in the trees all around. The restaurant is 1km away from the Campsite, on the main road towards Calakmul. Open from 7am to 7pm, they kindly agreed to serve us breakfast at 6:30am so we could get to Calakmul as early as possible.

I find it humorous to read reviews of people that talk about a poorly running shower or composting toilets when they go to an eco campground. Yeah, the 'facilities' are not the Ritz, but it's a super rad place. Tents are comfortable. Being in the jungle is a super fun experience. The hiking trails and lookout tower close by are cool. Hearing howler monkeys at night is frightening but awesome. Someone mentioned the cost? It's not that expensive to stay there, the food if you get it there is a bit more and may not have been my favorite...but hey, you're in the jungle...you can always bring your own food in. Also. bring your own water and snacks in to save some pesos :-) I found the people running it friendly but not in your business. It's a place to go do your own thing. When I was there there was only one other young couple staying there so you had the whole place for a nice peaceful retreat. Def great option for a night.

It could have been an amazing experience but sadly there was a harsh turn in the end. I don't speak Spanish so a friend of mine ask about the price and availability for the place. After the call he told me there is someone speaking English so I wrote with Leticia on Whatsapp. I had a few questions about the place. I thought I read somewhere that there would be a Kitchen, there isn't. The communication wasn't super smooth and somehow I haven't had a super good feeling but it all went away when i reached the place. It is very simple but by the time I arrived i knew what to expect. I think for what it is, it's a bit overpriced but then I also thought well it's a different kind of experience so it's Okay. When the daughter showed me the tent I asked her where i can leave my backpacks the next day while being in calakmul and she said I can leave it in the restaurant. After i was there quite early I decided to go out again. I have no car and after a few cars passed the mother drove by and gave me a ride what was super nice. The next day in the morning I came with me backpacks to the restaurant. When i asked where I can leave it she seemed a bit Confused and not liking it but I didn't give it much attention. When I returned from Calakmul I was a bit upset that I haven't dren and Monkeys. Somehow i also missed looking for them in the morning, on the campground because i was a bit late. Either way when I came back some of the other guests were eating and one of them told me he was just back at the Camping and there were some monkey over the toilets. So I thought ok cool before i leave i will have a look. The other guys left, I finished my food, paid and asked if it is okay if i just leave my third backpack with the others and quickly go to the camping. This is the moment things hot ugly. For some reasons, which I really don't understand she didn't want me to go and see the Monkeys. She told me i received the service I paid for and I have to leave. I really couldn't understand what was her problem. She mentioned that I have to speak Spanish, even she did speak English. Also something about me asking to much and not feeling well (which i did till that moment). I think or maybe hope that she had a personal issue with me (even i don't get why) and that it is not her personality. But even if she didn't like me I don't understand the problem. All I wanted was to have a quick look if I can see the Monkeys. That would have taken a few minutes and the whole Camping would have Been a nice and interesting experience. So my conclusion, if you don't speak at least some Spanish and/or if you have a few questions, don't Go there. Otherwhise I think you might have a good experience. But maybe I should add the Family who gave me a Ride after I left the Restaurant, Said they stayed there years ago and they weren't to Happy either and they do speak spanish. Also I was charges 350 instead of 250 what the sign mentions. They Said those Kind of tents were Taken. Maybe thats true, maybe Not.

We loved it! We stayed here one night before visiting Calakmul. We loved the fact that it is pretty wild and kinda in the middle of nowhere. At the camp there's no electricity nore running water. The only way to shower or wash is with water from buckets. It's super recommended to walk to the tower in the jungle, especially at night. You can get to the top of it and look at the stars. There's no lights anywhere around disturbing the night view. The restaurant is located next to the main road (700 meters from the camp). We loved the food here! Fresh and prepared by local women. The camp is a bit expensive to be honest, but it's worth to live the experience!
