El servicio de tarpon siempre ha sido excepcional, actualmente están sin dar servicio pero muy pronto se podrá agendar de nuevo, destacar que ya no se encuentra operando dentro de la darsena por lo que es indispensable ponerse en contacto con el gerente.

World class fishing tarpon.

Way overpriced! Well first, I had a good contact with Alejandro, the owner of Campeche Tarpon. We fixed one day of fishing. A proud price of 350 US$ / 7000Mex $. I had guidings all over the world and this was one of the most expensive. We started at 6am, Alejandro picked us up in the hotel and brought us to the harbor. All perfect so far. The we started on the boat with our „guide“ Pechuga. We were fishing until 2pm without seeing any fish. Then we saw like 50 tarpon in a bay, we casted in front of then, not a single take. Obviously it wasent feeding time so far. It would have started later in the eveing. But Pechuga said „the are not hungry“ and we went home at 3pm. So All the guides I had in my life so far, would have fished them in the evenig again. But for Campeche Tarpon „the time was over“ There should have been food included, but our guide was more hiding it to have it for himself in the evening. So my conclusion is: awesome nature, could be cool. But campeche Tarpon is way overpriced for the kind of guiding they do! If you are lucky, you find the hungry fish during you guiding time if not, the don’t react to the fish and you are back in the hotel at 3.30pm. could have been a very nice day with a real guide! So not worth the money!

I wouldn't call this a tourist attraction because I - myself, a tourist - was turned away by friendly security guards and not allowed access to the Puerto de Arribo. Looks okay from a distance.

I am a fly fishing guide in Colorado and a co-worker of mine recommended that someday I had to check out Campeche Tarpon out of Campeche, Mexico to see what baby/juvenile Tarpon fishing was all about. My Dad and I started initial our investigations into the trip pre-pandemic and, right away, Alejandro was very communicative throughout the planning process, patiently answering every email we wrote about gear, flies, etc. and helped us nail down the best days for fishing during our stay based on the tides. We finally arrived in March 2022 Alejandro and his son Alex were incredibly accommodating, flexible with start times, full of local recommendations for our “rest-days”, and just genuinely amazing and thoughtful people. We fished 4 days with Daniel (guide) and had shots at fish each day. Plenty hooked, some landed, biggest ones got away. For my first saltwater experience on the fly it was a fantastic time, I had no idea what to expect. Now I know: plan on casting 45’ on average, sometimes further, and practice your double-haul. Daniel was kind enough to also have a spin rod ready to go on the boat for those who are having trouble casting a fly rod. Overall, we would whole-heartedly recommend Campeche Tarpon as your guide service in the area.
