Consta de 8.4 km. de longitud con paredes verticales que oscilan entre los 10 y hasta 70 metros de altura, todo constituido por rocas basálticas. Las características generales del lugar difieren del clima conocido de la ciudad, pues prevalecen la humedad y vegetación exótica, siendo santuario del escarabajo rinoceronte y colibríes, así como murciélagos y reptiles. Parte de la ruta comprende claros de agua y cuevas, donde se puede practicar el flanqueo lateral, el rappel y senderismo. Puedes visitar el lugar con la ayuda de un guía, y preferentemente ir en grupo debido a lo solitario y la lejanía del lugar. Las paredes son muy altas y hay un sitio en el que tienes que subir unas rocas con una cuerda para continuar el camino. El trayecto no es muy largo pero es muy vistoso e impresionante. Su origen es basalto y además es intermitente, es decir, no todo el año lleva agua y en tiempos de seca observamos pozas con agua estancada, aunque en su parte más baja se aprecia un nacimiento de agua cristalina.
