Love the central garden..great staff..Lots of restaurants close by..all I wanted. Oh yes, clean and in good repair.

Unfortunately, it is my experience that Casa Arnel is not a good neighbor. They exist within a historic neighborhood, and complain and send "agents" to intimidate other businesses when they feel there is competition. However they don't show up or participate in the community meetings where concerns are dealt with. I will be sure to inform friends, family and any connections about this attitude.

The location (Jalatlaco) is a little out of the center, but it's still only about a 10-15 minute walk to the zocalo. There are also plenty of great restaurants and cafes and stores within a block or 2 of the hotel. The main ADO bus station is only about 5 small blocks away. Rates are competitive, keeping in mind that accommodations in Oaxaca are relatively expensive. There is a range of room types, including one or more "suites" with TV, but most rooms have no TV. You didn't come to Oaxaca to watch TV. There are even some cheaper rooms with shared bath. One of the things I love most about this hotel is the breakfast. It's a decent breakfast for a reasonable price, but what I really like are the banquet style tables and the opportunity to meet the interesting guests. We have made a few good friends here. Arnel himself is a wealth of information and can help you arrange or figure out how to arrange pretty much anything you might want to do in Oaxaca. The property is beautiful, full of plants and birds, with various patios and nice places to hang out with friends for a beer or coffee, etc.

Great price with a layout that makes it easy for meeting people. The service was polite and very accommodating. This is hostel that focuses on style and community over cleanliness.

It is so quiet and relaxed. The staff is friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The grounds are great!! I will hope to come back and stay longer!

A neat hostel with a beautiful wild garden courtyard. Very friendly staff and clean simple rooms with shared or private bathrooms. It's about 15 walk from the center in a calm part of town. Motorcycle parking is available in a separate small gated parking close to the hostel. Warmly recommend this place.

Quiet ! Remote and feel secure staying here ! Rooms are clean and simple ! You can choose between a room with your own bathroom, or get a room that shares the washroom ! The balcony and multi level terraces are amazing to find a spot to read a book and relax !
