Casa d'Italia - 06000 Ciudad de México

4.3/5 based on 8 reviews

We had what was a reasonably nice meal at this restaurant. My wife had the pizza which wasn't cooked and I had the pasta which was tasty but very under cooked. This wasn’t surprising as the food arrived within 3 minutes of ordering. I wouldn’t have written this review if it weren’t for one particular staff member who questioned the tip we gave. They overcharged us for the wine which clearly stated 100 peso per glass but they charged 120 without informing the guests. If you make a mistake, don’t start arguing with the customer. You should accept the price your advertising at and move on. If the menu is incorrect, my advise is to change the menu. When the waiter who hadn’t attended our table all night stormed over with a confused face about why we hadn’t tipped I highlighted that we paid 10% Tip if they factored there mistake in. The waiter slapped the receipt wallet closed and walked off in frustration and openly discussed with his fellow waiters. This kind of service is unacceptable and put a downer on our last night in Mexico. I hope the waiter in question reviews the complaint and changes his attitude in the future.

Just stumbled upon this amazing place. Very small and quaint, but the food and staff are amazing. The owner is from Italy, and it shows in the food and everything else at this very friendly, quaint place.

I did not even make it inside today!!!! I went to check out the place today at 12:45 PM and I noted it did not open until 2 PM, though the door was open. In the meantime a person comes to the door: He did not say anything to me. I took a picture of the business sign so I could look it up and call - I do not write down info on paper because I use a cell phone (picture attached). The guy, maybe a waiter yells at me to stop taking pictures!!! I told him I as ONLY taking a pic of the business sign: he said he did not care!! The guy did he offer to give me a card or information about the place. I turned around to walk away and said to the guy, I don't think I will be coming back: and he said PLEASE DO NOT COMEBACK.Of course all this conversation was in Spanish. Was a horrible person. Funny thing is that I was checking out the place for a birthday party for EIGHT PEOPLE. And we were going to drink too. They missed out. I will NEVER EVER go there, no matter how good the food is.

We stayed next door for 7 weeks. Naturally, we tried Casa d'Italia shortly after we arrived. Then we ate here 7or 8 more times. I tried a broad cross section of their menu. All were excellent!! Small, with experienced, attentive servers ... and outstanding food.

It’s true that the prices that are advertised are not the same as at the restaurant. When I arrived they showed me a printed menu to make sure I was ok paying their new prices. I was the first to arrive for dinner and they had me sit outside. They made the next few groups sit outside as well before filling the inside space. It was nice outside so I didn’t mind. Other than these quirks, I really enjoyed the food and the service. I asked for an arugula salad on top of my margarita pizza. Great combo! The pizza was a little cheesier than I’m used to but the salad dressing cut through the richness. Overall, an enjoyable meal.
