★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Casa de Colores is a lovely private guesthouse in Guanajuato, Mexico. At a comfortable distance from the lively center, the place is accessible from the Panoramica (via taxi), with an easy walk down to the city. The occasion for my visit was a special Foodie Extravaganza evening, with a tasting menu presented by visiting chef Samantha and front of house / maître d' José Miguel from Santo Huacal Restaurant in Patzcuaro (a very nice meal). I was keen to visit Casa De Colores, because rumor had it that the place is stunning. Well, it is! Walking into the hotel, there is a cozy bar to welcome visitors, leading into a comfortable lounge/dining area. Guests will note that the building has been decorated to a high standard, with great exuberance. Each room is different, themed with beautiful colors and all bedrooms have a private bathroom fitted to US/European standards. The rooms are filled with gorgeous tiles and handmade craft pieces, many of which are both beautiful and humorous … so lots to look at whilst dallying over a drink or snack. Climb the spiral staircase for a spectacular view from the terrace of colorful houses, the rugged hills that rise high above, and the glorious open skyscape.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Warm... welcoming...wonderful....
Casa de Colores, in Guanajuato, Mexico is all of these and more. Entering this lovely guesthouse, with the colorful tile face of the famous “Catrina”, Wade Denton, the on site host, greeted me with a cheery smile, and all the Covid precautions, inviting me in to explore the Mexican whimsy of this colorful guesthouse, created by Mary Jordan and Peter Pope Jones of Guanajuato. There is a bright, modern community kitchen, stocked with Continental style breakfast foods and the entry way is complete with a fun Equípale bar, serving up luscious beverages. Walking further into the guest house, I experienced a tranquil fountain, and a cozy dining area. Five amazing bedrooms, complete with full bath, and wonderful comfy beds, provide private guest rooms, each decorated in unique colorful, spacious and comfortable Mexican design. Ascending a spiral staircase, I relaxed on the terrace, with lovely vistas of the surrounding hills and the colorful Guanajuato city, providing breath taking sunrises and sunsets, all the while enjoying a beverage, to complete my stay at Casa de Colores...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This lovely little Casa has 1 apartment, 1 suite, 4 rooms and a roof top patio with great views. The decor is wonderful. The beds are comfortable. We enjoyed the friendly staff, the breakfast of fruit, yogurt, granola plus eggs or quesadillas. We coukd keep food in our room fridge and use the kitchen to cook our dinner. A taxi can get you close but you need to be able to carry your luggage either up or downhill for a short block. It's a 20 minute walk to Centro. There is not 24/7 staff but they respond quickly to What's App messages. We would stay there again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We're only one night into our 4 night stay, and I can confidently say this is the most wonderful and welcoming place that we have stayed in when visiting Mexico (this is my third trip and husband's second). The decor is a beautiful homage to the stunning style and handicrafts of Mexico, and the staff are friendly and attentive. We mistakenly booked this place thinking that it was another Guanajuato hotel that we had stayed in on our previous trip, but what a happy accident!!
