Beautiful home. Would recommend, however be aware of the dangerous stairs! There are no hand rails. Our friend fell and broke her arm and had to go to Cancun for medical care. The seating in the living room could also be improved. The bed in the non-master was quite uncomfortable. Sophia was excellent, very responsive to our questions and assisting our friend with transportation after her accident. Other than these things, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Sofia made a mistake when she thought it was appropriate to send two guys to come knock on our door at 9pm demanding $600 USD in payment for a golf cart, two days after Christmas. There was no talk of the deadline for us to go into Centro for payment. Instead of admitting this mistake, she immediately accused me of being a bad communicator. I’m not sure how that would be even possible in that situation. In actuality, she texted us about 6-8 times during our 10 day vacation and became again cross when I didn’t immediately answer back. For example she texted us on the last night “When are you leaving?” I’m not sure why she felt entitled to interrupt people’s vacation to text her in particular, especially that question. It was all very strange because we were the most considerate guests that one could imagine. Left the house spotless, told her she didn’t need to do any mid-trip housekeeping, and did not bother her even once except for locating an iron and ironing board. Oh and by the way, we’re in the middle of a pandemic. Where resorts have all their employees mask up while dealing with mask-off tourists, Sofia and her team didn’t wear masks while we did. That pretty much sums up the situation—the entire guest/host dynamic is flipped here. I was the one far more polite than her while she unironically said stuff like “I told you…”. I was the one far more understanding than her, solving the golf cart problem with a polite suggestion of virtual payment. I was the one who stayed positive while she periodically blasted anger at me. At the end, she doubled, tripled down, following me home with a bad review of me, even while I overlooked all of this and wrote them a glowing review on AirBnb and left a fat tip. Such a shame because Casa de Jolly was very pretty. You know how people say to be careful of pushy scammers in Mexico? Well, be careful of Sofia.
